Does anyone here track their CLK55s?
If so, what suspension, wheel and/or brake setups have worked well? Feel free to e-mail me with your details.
And thanks in advance. w208@jrentech.net |
I've been on the track in a stock C32; ran factory tires & brakes, and ran normal tire pressures. Did surprisingly well:)
However, I WILL be running the MB Autowerks CLK 55 Kompressor at Starfest-hope you can make it:D |
Ah, what a fine car to be taking to the track!
What are your impressions of the Kleemann damper/spring setup vs. the AMG stock setup? The stock suspension is already quite well behaved, but I'd be interested to hear your driving impressions. Have you done laps with both a stock clk55 and the clk55k? Does the Kleemann setup improve upon stock in the twisties? Lots of questions, I know, but I would appreciate your perspective. Unfortunately, I'm all the way in california, so I won't be making it to Starfest. However, I am considering taking it to Willow Springs for Eurotunerfest. |
I have driven both. The AMG suspension is soft when pushed. It allows too much roll.
The Kleemann suspension will stiffen up when pushed. That is why is it called 'speed sensitive'. I am insalling a full suspension and wheel kit on the car for Michael to take to the Starfest. Good luck....You won't need it. You will have the fastest car there! |
Nice.....Very nice. Can't wait:)

Thanks for the reply!
By any chance have you tried out some of the other available suspension setups out there? (H&R springs, Koni Sport , Bilstein, Eibach...etc.) I'm looking for any kind of comparative experience. I'd be interested in going to a Kleemann setup, but need some kind of quantifiable justification for the premium. (That goes for any of the high-end tuners as well) |
