500E transmission upgrade

Hello Everyone,

I want to find out if I can make the following changes to my 93' 500E, and also my friend's 92 500E

Make 4-sp. auto transmission start with 1st. gear, instead of second. But I don't want to have jolting starts from stop, so what can I do to make all 4 speeds into higher ratios. Is it changing the final drive ratio?

I've found Renntech, has kits to make auto-transmission start from 1st. gear, but I don't how to reduce the jolting start up effect. Moreover, it would be nice to make the 4th gear taller to have lower freeway driving engine speed.

Thanks!

Henry

No need to mess with the valve-body on 500E or almost any or the 4-speed 722.x trannys with a "B2" selector.

There is a more elegant solution utilizing an electronic selector switch to choose 1st or 2nd gear starts.

Check out Carl of BergWerks in the Burbank area of California (http://www.bergwerks.com).

He also has some differential upgrades. . . But it might be slim-pickings for an ASR diff.
