AMG "diagnostics mode"

Hi Guys,

I have heard that there is a combination of keystrokes you can use (on the steering wheel I think) that will put the console into a diagnostics mode whereby you can alter some of the performance - and other - settings of the vehicle. Are these published somewhere? I'd like to know what options I can tune on the CLK55.

Thanks!

Thanks for the post.

I attended the 2002 AMG Driving Challenge event last Friday - a great event by the way - and while I was there I talked with several of the other AMG owners. Two of the C32 owners knew how to go into the diagnostics mode and disable some of the "features" of the safety system, as well as to change characteristics of the braking.

I asked how they did this, and was told that it can be done using a series of keystrokes, but that each model AMG was slightly different. They pointed me to RennTech, but I was unable to find anything on their web site - maybe I should call them...

Check 'Fully Disabling ESP' just below halfway down. Only seems to work on the C32, but there may be other stuff below (yet to read).

Also, you can enter diagnostic with COMAND if you have it. Hold Mute + 1 + 3 for 8 seconds.

let us know what you get!

Thanks alot Russ!

That's exactly what I was looking for. I'll give it a try on my CLK55 - but it might not work since my car is not a C32. If not, asking a Merc Mechanic would probably be the best way to figure it out. There's gotta be an equivalent way to do these diags on all the models - it would make the most sense if they all behaved in the same way - we'll see!

Alex.

I suspect they use a plug in diagnostic tool to do it, rather than messing with wheel buttons.

If you were in the UK, I'd invite you to my dad's indy where the Bosch FSA560 diagnostic machine would probably reveal some interesting options in the system..
