2.3-16 rebuilt for some racing
I posted this in Tech help too.
I would like my 2.3-16 to perhaps see some track use and be a street fighter. To do this it'll need to shed a few hundred pounds and gain some horses. I can tear stuff out of my car with the best of them. I have rebuilt engines before but want someone to do my Cossie right. By right I mean with care and love, not crazy $$$ Anybody interested in rebuilding my 2.3-16? Or know of anybody who would be good? Rough cost estimates? It runs well, but blows some black smoke only when floored(no noticable lack of power). So, I'm assuming it would just need to be freshened up (new gaskets, valve job, perhaps new oversized pistons, little porting while in there). I'd like to bump my compression to at least the euro spec 10.6(?) from 9.7. My brother is able to get me a factory downpipe sans cats. It has 180000 on it. Thanks. Meek |

Don't know where you're located, but Rick Ellinger at RC-Imports has been racing the 16 valve for years. He was the first in the US to do so a while ago. His shop is located in the DC area and he does all work on the 16 valves himself. If anything, give him a call at 301-762-4205 and talk to him. He's busy, but I'm sure he'd give you a few minutes. He also has a website: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/rc-imports.com
