Cool Hey guys,Whatdayathink about the wheels

http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/aldedmon/vwp?.dir=/My+Photos/Dedmon+et.al&.dnm=Img_0139.jpg&.src=ph&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/bc/aldedmon/vwp%3f.dir=/My%2bPhotos/Dedmon%2bet.al%26.dnm=Img_0017.jpg%26.src=ph

I swapped them off the 400e conversion for a photo shoot. Wheels would need spacers to actually fit as the wheel was snug against the caliper on the front. For anyone who's seen it, this photo reminds me of the RED HAMMER from the old AMG catalogue

Sweet ride even without the wheels - those are the icing on the cake!

Aero 1

Personally, I LOVE the Aero 1 and its razor-edge, deadly-disk look.

If only they were available in 18" *sigh*.

Your car is eye-candy: maybe you should spray some DroolGuard(tm) on your finish...

thanks

Scott,
Coming from you those words are an extra compliment.
Yours is one of , if not the HOTTEST looking MB's I've ever had the pleasure of looking at.... 500E/E500 OR Otherwise.
I have "drooled" over your entire portfolio.( Sorry for the mess I made). The meticulous paint, the attention to detail, the Hood mods etc. Is that car your daily driver? How do you keep the paint from chipping? I had the hood/fenders on my Black car repainted(maybe it was the shop or paint, or the lack there of) and after 6 months the front end looks like its been through a sand storm. But the Original paint on the rest of the cars is still perfect. I ask, because if I ever have to have the RED beauty repainted, I'll probably go to a MB Independent restoration shop and not JUST a MB authorized paint shop.

thanks, in turn

Albert:

Thank you for perhaps the nicest complimets I ever have received on my car; I most appreciate it - coming from a fellow 500E/E500 fanatic.

To answer your question, I repaint my "high exposure" items, about every 12 to 18 months: hood grill, front valence/air-dam, rocker-panels and snap-on lower panels (especially the rear ones, near the wheel-wells - heh-heh...) I also use Klasse cleaner wax and Xymol pretty frequently (yes, quite frequently, I must admit). Road-rash is a no-go; every bit of effort helps.

In fact, I just had a touch-up done for the upcoming 500E/E500 NorCal Wine Country Extravaganza; I'll pick up my car, tomorrow afternoon.

I plan to take more pictures, this weekend, and post them to my website. Incidentally, ///benzsport.com has contacted me and wants to feature my 500E in their 2003 calendar (I hope that's cool with all my mercedesshop.com friends!)

; )

Someone told me, last week, that AMG Monoblock Aero 1 wheels are now available in 18" size. I do not believe this is true - unless they are knock-offs/fakes...

I have a question, please - if I send you some blank wiper filler-panels, might you be able to have them machined and "ventilated," like yours? I prefer louvering - but I cannot find *ANYONE* who can/wants to do it for me, here in the Bay Area.

RSVP / thank you,

Vented panels

Glad to!
Did you see my post for the cost $$$ of these panels.
The panels were ~$8 ea
It was $75 to have the machine work done
$75 for the E55 AMG grill that I mutilated to get the mesh.
and $105 for the powdercoating.
That's ~$130 ea . I would think that there are equally good Machine shops there in S.Cal to do the initial cut out. The rest was DIY. I cut the AMG grill and used black silicon to adhere it to the panels after getting them back from the powder coat shop. Since you already have a paint shop that can do great work subtracting out the $105 for the Paint/Coating still leaves $75 for the machine shop(I think that's pretty standard at 1hrs labor for setting up the jig and doing the cut) the Grill $75 and the panels $16 themselves. I like the AMG grill cause it has some sort of rubber or powder coating on it and is resistant to wear, however there are all sorts of prexisting patterns, even louvered i'll bet, that can easily be cut to fit the cutout. Just install from the rear and either tack weld or silicon like I did. I suggest that the parts be prefitted and painted before final assy.

Wow. Between the red paint and O.G. AMGs, that 500E looks very much like the sports car it is. Very nice!

thank you

Thanks, Albert; I just read your previous posting (my apologies for not searching, first). I will look into this, locally (or in LA).

Incidentally, I frequent the "Spundae" venue at Circus / Arena / Disco (Hollywood, CA, weekly techno/trance event), in case anybody plans to be there, this (or any) weekend:
