1987 420sel R-16 R16?

Does a 1987 420SEL have one of those R-16 resistors? If so, where can I find it?

YES, tie-wrapped to the wiring harness between the brake fluid reservoir & the fuse box. May have black electrical tape holding it in.

And remember you must use the super-high octane type gas, regular won't do if you remove the resistor (hence, why it's there)

Thanks for the help! Just a few more questions..... Will removing the R-16 resistor have an efect on gas consumption? The highest octain gas I can get around here is 93. Is that good enough?

It shouldn't affect consumption, might even improve it.

I *think* that will be enough. You must listen out for knocking/pinking/pinging under acceleration. Sounds just like quick succession of random 'pings', not too loud, coming from the engine when under load. It's hard to describe, but just watch out for any new noises coming after you remove the resistor!

later!
