1986 420 sel brake problem

My brakes suck. For the past 2 years the pads only last a couple thousand miles. I drive the car pretty hard, but I also downshift a lot so I don't use the brakes. I got my pads changed a couple weeks ago and within 2 days the damn things started squeaking again. It took it to the brake place and he said that the piston on the right caliper is sticking. I took it to my mechanic to rebuild, but he opened it up and said that the brakes still may not work right if he rebuilds it. So, no rebuild. What options do I have? I am planning on buying a new car in the near future and this will be the spare family car. Would it be possible to get a pair of brakes from a junkyard car? I have not been using OE pads nor the Mercedes anti-squak paste.

On a completely different note, what is involoved on putting in a new a/c. Mine is busted and the mechanic says he'll put in a used one for $300. If it is not to hard, I think I would like to do it instead. For now, can I just cut the belt and get a bit more horsepower since I'm not using the a/c anyways?

And for all you w126ers, this is a nice upgrade I did to my car (a long time ago). Get a dual intake from a 1991 560. And I already accidently sawed off one of my scoops

thanks

ps, that car is so damn funy looking

If you are not useing the brakes, which is hard to believe, a two ton car has to stop sometime, either you are hard on them or ride the brakes and not realize it or they are dragging (not releasing) or a combination of the above, what kind of mechanic do you have, he should be able to tell you your options. If your calipers are sticking rebuild or replace them, New front rotors and oem pads with everything required like brake sensors, squeal paste etc, If you no where to go it doesn't run much over $100.00, I would not install calipers that just came from a junkyard without rebuilding them first, how is the rest of the system, brake booster, master cylinder, brake lines, replace any of those items if needed, also pay attention to the rear brakes, even though they do not supply the majority of stopping power they do help quite abit, I have seen cars with the rear brakes not working and people had complaints similar to yours. What is not working with your a/c, does it have a leak, is the compressor dead? your car has several possibilities that can cause the system not to operate.
