launch technique

I pulled (well, Michael did) the ASR/ABS sensor. Both feet in, RPM's about 2000...full auto tranny (in 3).

That was the most fun!

Must have been a hot day(?)...although Michael and myself both pulled the factory claimed 14.1 in 95 degree weather up in New Hampshire last year...he got me by .016 of a sec. with a better launch. Did you notice if your radiator fan was on?...that rob some power for sure.

Weather

It was a hot day. The cars were on the track all day and then we hit the 1/4 mile.

It was just about dusk. The sun went in and it was humid.

The other 500E times for the day:

14.794 @96.75
14.579 @ 97.21
14.833 @96.14
14.694 @95.08

Dave

Ps. The KLEEMANN did a bit better.

i have one...'71 300SEL 6.3L
midnight blue w/ midnight blue interior. my dad drove it one time and pulled up to a stop light. some kid in new Z-28 thought it might be an easy kill, so he started reving is engine. my dad glances over and shakes his head. leaves the car in drive....as soon as the light turned green, my dad jumped on it gas. the 300SEL was burnin rubber all the way through 2nd gear and that car broke looooooooooooose. this is car is a real sleeper. and the guy was still wondering wut the heck jus beat him. LOL

Sorry, new here.....14.500?

My 67 Cad Eldorado turned low 14's, my friends Muscle Cars did the same. The 300SEL 6.3, my other friends folks had, turned way low 14's, both in stock condition, ( I had to take my wheel covers off to run).

I have driven a few 500E's, and think they should run the 13.9 range at least, in stock condition.

I have many 1/4 mile runs under my belt....."oh the old days"!

The 500E Smokes, just drive it!

I did some runs at Santa Pod in England... Got 14.5 ish at a terminal speed of 99.98mph. Couldnt get grip at all off the line. If I could, I reckon I could knock half a second off that. Even at 60 it was still spinning the wheels (it doesnt do that on the road... I think the surface was a bit greasy)

A friend took his 996 GT2 there, and he got 12.2 @ 119mph!

Whoa, that 996 is FAST!! Best I've done at the drags was a 13.8...but it was enough to carry the day against an E55

Being the owner/op of the E55 in question, this needs to be said.
1. My reaction time at said event was "who, me"?
2. I elected to manual shift and ended up tagging the rev limiter which really bogged the car down. Basically bad 1/4 mile time due to driver error.
3. Engine was new and not even broken in on the event day-car is much quicker now, despite my poor reaction time.
4. Hoping to find a nice open road and settle the score on 9/21...
bring it on!
