Audi VS. Benz blowout
Hey all, my friend wants to race me in his '94 all stock 5-speed audi 100, and i am hesitant to accept the challenge in my '86 all stock auto 300E, is this a rightful hesitancy? will i get toasted? Thanks for the replies

versus
Both cars are about the same. I think the better driver will prevail.

The 300E should pull away with easy after a few seconds. If his was an auto too, it would be you right from start to finish, but since his is a standard, he can launch better. Although, if he isnt that great a driver, that can work to his dissadvantage. The 86 300E was I believe to be the quickest compared to later years, less the 104 engine.
I think you can take him p.s. my friend has an 95 audi 100 (auto), and that thing is a dog.

I think you will do ok, if you autobox is in ok condition and you know how to use it for dragging.. the usual routine: put in '2' so it starts in first (otherwise you get a pause while it starts in 2nd, then changes down to 1st), and change on the stick if you want it to go all the way to the redline.
Or, tell him your car's too precious to risk damaging drag racing Or, race him on a road with corners in it later!

I would recommend you NOT to race for pink slips or anything else for that matter. -Beside pride maybe..
I have driven quite a few miles in a '86 euro spec Audi 100 2.3 litre, 5 cyl. manual tranny. (don't know how the 2.8 litre compares) It has a tremendous amount of torque all the way through the rpm range. -Way better than my '86 300E! You have a slight advantage in hp. But you loose that to your extra weight. So it'll be a very close race. Go for it. And let us know how it went. I would love to see your MB win. Freestyler |

His has 172. They are slow as hell. You'll kill him assuming your motor is even reasonably healthy. Just go out and do it.
