more timing advance?

Hey everyone. I know everyone has been talking about taking out the EZL reference resistor to get 0 degrees of timing retard. But is it possible to get a few degrees of timing advance? Would this cause the engine to knock on 93 octance US gas? From what ive been reading, a little more timing advance should theoretically lead to a little more hp, not much mind you, but if its cheap, and won't put holes in my piston heads, why not? Thanks.
