They didn't leave you much room in your trunk. My install has alot more room. I created a box underneath the hatshelf. Removed, the 1st aid kit. I can even get my spare out if I need to.

amazing... the system must sound sweet. However, that is an insanely huge box for just a single 12 and a couple amps. you should they didn't stuff like 2 15s in there and didn't tell you about it?

btw... I really like the tweeter install, they did a really good job integrating those into the car. An excellent job overall!

Daesun,

Would love to hear your system some time, I'm a huge fan of crisp clean sounds and a well positioned sound stage. I want to get as many different types of systems as possible in a 500E just to see what they are capable of. I've heard Guido's which sounds extremely nice.

Your install looks great, they did an excellent job blending the equipment into the car. The box is a bit big but I'm sure they must know how much cubic feet your woofer requires to operate proplerly.

Yes, the box is quite large. However, it is a bandpass enclosure, and a small one at that. It's actually a pretty unorthodox design that SAVED space. The ported chamber is a wide, shallow rectangle that is flush with the back wall of the trunk, and the sealed chamber housing the (believe it or not) single 12 is only about half the width and on the right side (this is why the amp is flush mounted towards the left). Without the amp, the box is an 'L' shape. Overall dimensions are 28" wide x 13" deep.

The system itself is more SQ oriented than SPL, and the sound is very clean, especially the midbass. The only problem right now is that the first aid kit lid rattles like crazy when I crank it (the port is located underneath it. I may just have to remove the lid altogether. I still have to bring the car in for final tweaks (after speaker burn-in) and time correction.

Guido - I like your install, we should definitely compare sometime. I thought about mounting a 12 in the rear deck, but I was wary of cutting that much.

My install

I did a 500E too last year! In my case I hid the sub under the mat... Also, used PPI amps, and the 2 link together pretty cleanly. I wanted to leave some wiring exposed; it was a LOT of work! Needed a 100 amp circuit breaker to deal with this setup.

Though my sub's not likely not as good-sounding a solution as Daesun & Guido (but it is time-aligned & has active noise cancellation), but I've got 3 kids so can't give up the trunk space!

Those amps look sweet, Michael. I like the way they link up to one another. Very clean.

As far as trunk space goes, both you and Guido have me beat by a mile. However, the biggest thing that's ever in my trunk is my golf bag, so it's a moot point for me.

I'm getting a tuneup and time alignment on Friday. Did it make a significance difference in staging for you?

Yes, the time alignment I feel is worthwhile...took a while to get right, but sounds pretty darn good
