Need help with specifics of this Brabus head
If anyone has specifics about the Brabus M103 head I would love to hear from you. The Brabus part # is 02041/9909-0. Brabus of North America has been ummm, less then helpful.
Maybe someone also knows what the item in the last picture is, it was taped to the bottom of the head in a MB baggie sporting part number A1031860427. Half way there! |

2phast,
If you can get the In. and Ex. cam opening and closing points at 0.040" lift (std) the cam duration and lift I could tell you something. To get more info I need the intake port volume and both intake and exhaust valve sizes. Also if you know what the piston to head clearance is. And the head gasket is it one, or three pieces and steel. This clearance should be set at 0.035"-0.040" max. Any more and your losing Hp. And leave yourself open to detonation. If you could send pics of the ports and combustion chamber that would really help Jeff |

Jeff, thanks for the comments. I am not sure I can provide you with those specifics. The head did not arrive with a gasket, just the item in the last page which (thanks to Pat at Potomic) is a oil distribution unit that mounts on the top of the head and sprays oil on the cam shaft.
I can take pictures of the intake and exhaust ports, but I don't think I could even come close to getting the cam closing points at .040" lift, you would have to step me through that one. I figure that Brabus has a set of specs they machine and build these heads to, was hoping that maybe someone has this info buried away in a file somewhere. |

2phast,
Well I could walk you through it or you could take it to a good engine shop in your area. The cam timing is critical to engine performance and really should be measured and set before you install the head. Also can you take a pic of the side and top of the piston, as it forms the bottom of the combustion chamber. Or you could seend me the head and I would do all of the above for you. I have built lots of engines and am very curious about a mercedes cylinder head. Please let me know if your pistons come up to the very top of the cylinder or stop some measure below. Setting that Piston to Head clearance is so Critical. Jeff |

Thanks Jeff. This head will not be installed on my current engine. It will either be on a 3.0l or 3.6l M103 block, so all I can do at this point is to post some pics of the head in more detail.
I will try to do this tonight |

2phast- care to share the tuner's contact info who's blowing out Brabus stuff?
Also, that last part is the oil-rail. It looks like the updated one for better flow of oil in the head. :-) neil |

This particular contact had two heads and one motor, I picked up the last head and missed out on the motor. He had no other MB Brabus items last I spoke with him.
