A LOT HAS BEEN SAID ABOUT CONSTRUCTING COLD AIR INTAKE FOR LETS SAY 300E , CAN SOMEONE PLS TELL ME WHAT IS THE DISADVANTAGE OF MOUNTING A OPEN ALL AROUND AIR FILTER HOUSING ON THE AIR INTAKE ,,YOU KNOW THE TYPE THAT GM FORD OLD MUSCLE CARS USED, IAM THINKING ITS LESS RESTRICTIVE THAN REGULAR INTAKE HOUSING....JUST BRAIN STORMING .

Hey, I wouldn't call myself accomplished, but.... having one of those circular filters just sitting in the engine bay will draw in hot engine air only, and mercedes engines are very sensitive to temperature (cold=more power). The cold air intake scoop is a much better solution, even though it restricts the intake a bit. (Ram air should be able to fix this)
