I think the 400E has a 11:1 CR and the 500E is at 10:1. A 500E could go with 7-8 psi with a intercooler and have no problem'o for longevity, you might even get up to 9-10 with a real efficeint intercooler. Remember, the enemy of a engine is too much heat and that's what boost will do for ya. The internals in our engines will handle much more power than we might think.

Anybody want to take a guess on what the max power is possible with stock internal components?

The 400E will need to go a more conservative psi or go inside the block with a new custom (ie JE, Ross, or anyone competent on CNC'ing any possible setup) Rod/Piston setup or a deck plate to up the CR. A plate in between the block and the heads would be the most cost effective route, just have it properly engineered and CNC machined.

Which ever route this little project might take, the cooling issues of the M119 .xxx in the W124 willl need to be squarely addressed. This can not be avoided.

I thought the 400E had only 1 or 2-years with the 11:1 compression ratio.

My Request to Bergwerks,

"Hello,

I am interested in the status of your 500E supercharger project?

I am interested in possibley purchasing your kit.

Ross Newcomb"

The reply from Bergwerks is that the project is moving forward and completion may be finished sometime late this year!

Wonder if you guys have any ideas?

If you start throwing suggestions while Bergwerks are in the design phase, we may get our preferences on design included.

I would like to see a water-to-air intercooler included for one.

Also, Chromed plumbing for a great look?

What about Superchargers?

Ideas?

(Edit - removed aerocharger reference, that is a turbo!)

We M119.xxx owners are going to need a Big X-mas present to keep up with the newer German Metal coming in the up and coming years!

I can't imagine getting blown into the weeds by a huge S600 by 1 and a half seconds from 0-60 mph, that is a huge difference!

Let's see, we need power, brakes, suspension upgrades..., what else? :p

Four more cylinders, perhaps?

I fear the MY03+ 600s... What sort of freakish world do we live in that a Mercedes S600 can run a 12.4 sec quarter mile straight from the factory?

What about the new CL600 (I think) with the LARGER discplacement V12 (6.5 liters I think) and the LARGER turbos than the 6.0 liter. I saw a little blurb in the latest C&D. 605 horses or something and over 700 ft lbs! I guess 12.4 in the quarter doesn't quite cut it anymore.

They also had an article with the E55 vs. M5 vs 390HP Jag vs. 450 HP biturbo V8 Audi. E55 won hands down in accelaration looking especially good 60-100 and beyond. Came in third though overall (but not by much points-wise) b/c of all the electronic braking and steering, etc.

I think I will have to look at an E55 in a few years with some Renntech HP adders. I'm already getting the wife prepared!!

I assume you're referring to the CL65 AMG, which has a 6.0L V12 (the standard biturbo 600 has a "mere" 5.5L of displacement) and the same turbos but higher boost. 612 hp and 738 lb/ft. There will also be an S65 and SL65. Considering a RENNtech chipped S600 with stickier rubber has already broken into the 11s, I'd expect the 65 cars to run in the 11.5 or lower range.

I say, screw all these cars, give me a W211 Brabus EV12.

I completed my custom supercharger project for less than $4,500 with water/methanol injection. The power was increased by around 140 RWHP over stock or around 168 crank horsepower for those not used to RWHP numbers.

A system for the CIS-E 500 E would be very similar.
