Question Transmission questions

Hello Friends,

I think my automatic transmission is a bit late when shifting up i.e I would like it to shift up at a lower Rpm. I also would prefer the shifts a bit firmer.

I think I have seen a link somewhere on this site to a description how that can be done but Im unable to find it. Can anyone help me?

My transmission is also quite slow to engage the reverse (it waits for almost a second) after the shift lever is in position and once engaged the drag is quite high compared to when in drive.

Is this normal and if not what should I do about it?

Many thanks,

do a search on bowden cable.

By adjusting it you can make the shifts firmer and or softer and I believe change the rpm it shifts at slightly.

To make the car shift sooner you do adjust the control pressure (bowden) cable, you will need to allow several MM clearance at the throttle linkage. However to change the shift firmness you will need to adjust the vacuum modulator on the transmission.
