'97 c280 w202 performance upgrade?

Rather than sell my car I've decided to have some fun with it, [if I can]. The only real thing Brabus does apart from exhaust is a 15 thousand dollar engine displacement upgrade [for my model]. No thanks but I'd rather buy another car than spend almost 20k right off the bat.

I live in San Diego area, if you guys know anywhere reputable who will "tweak it up" a little bit [other than Brabus], please do let me know.

the car-

97 c280 ~45k miles
2.6L straight six engine [I believe]

A little more torque would be nice and a little better throttle response [akin to the supercharged c230's which seem to have a lot livelier accelerator response]. Im assuming a chip upgrade and some other minor things would help, but I know little about cars and im not afraid to admit it.

thanks in advance. p.s. Ill probably be taking it in to Brabus for some exhaust fun unless you guys know a better place...

Stroke it to 3.2L (ala E320) or stroke it to 3.6L (ala C36)

Regards,

Don

3.2L sounds fine. Also saw a camshaft/airfilter kit from renntech that I wouldnt mind putting in.

But my main question is where can I take it that is reputable in Southern CA [san diego or north to newport beach/or just south of Los Angeles at maximum]???

thanks for the reply.

Have you thought about a chip? Several people speak highly of the Upsolute chip ( CA location is in Chino Hills), but I haven't used it myself.

For other work, I hear that:

Mercedes Only
33041 Calle Aviador
SJC, CA

Does MB performance work, but I haven't used them either. Also, I believe someone has an AMG 32 engine posted on the forum for sale recently.

The quick response and helpful comments on this forum are blowing me away. Thanks seriously guys. When I get it on my mind that I want to do something, I have a one track mind and wont stop until im happy! [lol]

JCE- I will check on that mercedes shop in san juan capistrano tomorow, its 40 minutes away so that is actually pretty good. Also the upsolute chip I had read about somewhere else. I will definitely try that out...

This is just the kind of info I was looking for.

If anyone else wants to suggest some more shops, that would help me getting quotes. Thanks again.
