Factory silver/silver, US 500E/E500's?

I wonder if anyone has ever seen or heard of one? I've seen pictures of the E500 Limited in brilliant silver with matching body cladding. A US car in the same factory scheme with black interior would be sweet! Pictures of Farrukh's beautiful all black car in the Need2Speed gallery inspire me to ask.

Thanks.

I've seen a silver one last year up at Lime Rock Track...although the owner said he had the bottoms painted out to match, not factory. Looked great and he had the EvoII polished rims too which goes exceptionally well with the brilliant silver...IMO

Isn't Scott Shell's car in Cali all silver too?

My 92 is all brilliant silver with black interior. With the Euro headlights, clear sidelights and AMG monoblck wheels it looks preety good!

Jim-- I think that's just the look I'd like to find. I hope they came that way from the factory, though, 'cause I like leaving things original (with the exception of the Evo II wheels, which are a factory idea, anyway). I'm having trouble finding many pictures of silver E500 Limiteds on the web.

bpkinatl--are pictures of your car posted anywhere on the web? I'd like to see the all silver look on the pre-'94 car. I bet it looks great. With the european lights, it's a toss up for me as to whether the 500e or e500 looks better.

my $0.02

I'm going to have my entire interior re-done in light or dark grey; the "parchment" treatment I currently have just isn't cutting it...

Since everyone out there seems to have a black interior, I'm going to opt for something different... and preserve the monchrome sameness of my 500E's overall appearance.

; )

gilamnstr - please visit my website for pictures of my Brilliant Silver 1993 500E...

That's how it came from the factory. It's a really sharp look with the lights. Basically folks don't even know what kind of car they're looking at most of the time. Everything's pretty original except for the wheels, white guages and AMG door sills (I don't count the 1st gear start, and the front sway bar). Now to tweak the exhaust and I'm good to go.

I do need to get some pic's posted on the web of the 500E and my 300CE. The wife has finaly said it has to go (sob) so I'll need to get pic's of it online as well (it's silver & black too). Pic's of both real soon.

Scott,
Too bad I can't just unzip my grey interior and trade for your tan. I'm not crazy about the grey. Seems like most of the 500Es are my colors, pearl black/grey. The color combo I like the best is smoke silver/palomino.

hmmm...

i wonder if that might just be arranged, Tom... seriously!

the seat-covers and door-panels/handles CAN, in fact, be swapped - leaving only the carpeting and headliner for an upholstery shop.

my rear seats (bench + backrests) do need re-upholstring, though, due to rubber stain impregnation...

please e-mail me at: nemo@nemonis.net

let's discuss this: we may be able to save each other a sizeable amount of money!

Thumbs up Tom & Scott

Tom, I believe there is a smoke silver/palomino E500 for sale at euro motor cars in Bethesda MD. with some Renn Tech mods.

Scott, I have a black interior in my car and I would trade you for UR parchment interior if you like. Then I would have one of the rarest 500E combos goin; Imperial Grey Pearl exterior/ Parchment interior :p

E Dream

...that would be cool... except that my rear seats are stained and i don't think they can be lightened. if i wanted a black interior, i could probably dye mine... but i prefer a silver/gray combo (that way, if i live to have gray hair - if i still HAVE hair, by then). it's much cleaner and has a brighter/roomier feel, inside, IMHO.

i just found out, last week, that to replace a SINGLE (entire) front seat in a W124 (at the dealership) can cost upwards of $3-4K!!! WHAAAAAAAAT???!!!

apparently, the individual parts are so intricate, numerous, and expensive, some insurance companies TOTAL OUT Mercedes-Benz vehicles if their interiors have been damaged beyond reasonable repair or stolen, outright!

that SUXXXXXXX!!!

Unhappy Scott

At those replacement costs, it would be cheaper to just buy up all the remaining 500E's for sale right now. Group buy anyone ?????
hehehe

They were recommended to me by MBZ Oakland.

Guys....correct me if I'm wrong but I thought you could just purchase the leather covers from MB for a reasonable price.

Scott when you priced the seats were you referring to just the leather covers or the complete seat assembly including the pads, buttons, plastic, coils etc?

I was thinking of changing my drivers side seat back in a couple of years and didn't think cost would be nearly that high.
