Can I replace airbag wheel for Momo??
Hello,
I want to replace my airbag steering wheel with a new Momo or Grant...14 Dia. My O.E.M steering wheel is worn, ugly, and BIG. Has anyone completed this transfer sucessfully?? Not interested in a $700 replacement wheel with wood or Brabus style. My main concern is getting the horn button to function properly. Also, "SRS" is a easy fix so not worried about light coming on. I did a complete search on website about topic...no helpful info. All help welcomed..... |

Some legal issues to think about! But, yes it should fit with the correct adaptor fit & most aftermarket wheels provide for OE horn operation.

Do you need to disable the airbag sensor? Won't the computer read a malfunction if an airbag is not hooked up?

DO NOT DO THIS YOURSELF!!! (Unless you are a pro)
I have heard that it is extremely dangerous to do such a thing... (and difficult) You can put a Momo wheel on your car, but I would pay someone to do it if I were you... |

Ok, first off there is only one air bag in the car, its not complicated or dangerous to remove the airbag. Just remember your removing one of the safety devices on your car and I recommend you do not tamper with it.
But if you insist, I have pictures on my web site, my first wheel swap was for a victor (non airbag wheel) if you get the proper hub, your horn will work just fine. The big hassle is getting your old wheel off, you need to remove two #30 torx screws to get the airbag off, then you need a 10 mm hex head socket and a big breaker bar to get the nut loose. Trust me, its a pain. Play it safe and disconnect your battery before you try this. |
