500E dead - Need Help

I need some help/advice reg. my '93 500E. It wouldn't start the other day in a parking lot. Battery was fine, but it wouldn't crank over at all - completely dead. Also tried to start in N, but nothing.
Had car towed to my Mercedes mechanic. After 2 days he can't figure out what's wrong with it. He jumped the starter, and it's working. He also checked the neutral safety switch-it's functioning. All electrical is working. Car worked perfect until it was parked. No previous symptoms at all... I am obviously trying to avoid a visit to the local Mercedes Dealer. Does anyone have any suggestions/advice. Thanks in advance!

The OVP is sometimes the cause of a no-start condition.

Question Alternator?

Try searching Tech Help and Hot Rods using the terms "500E alternator"...sounds familiar

Car is running again!

Thanks for everyone's responses. After the 3rd day my mechanic found the problem. The previous owner had an alarm system installed and a wire came loose in the wiring harness of the ignition causing the car not to start. Again, thanks for everyone's help.
