1975 450SL exhaust

I am looking to update the exhaust in this car. Will it do me any good to get rid of the cats on this car? Or should I keep them there? No emmissions in Fla so I dont need them. Any other suggestions that will help it run better? Feels like it wants to go but it just cant acheive its potential

Thanks

The under hood catalysts are very restrictive. Using an exhaust system from a 1974 car will allow the engine to breath better. Or use the ex manifolds from 1974 OR 1977 thru 79 & then have a custom exhaust system made.
