The CE with the SL front end......very unusual. Not sure I'd do that.

But I do rather like the silver 500CE-look

yeah there are some sweet sweet rides there...

Mine is getting there. I need to buy new tail light lenses, the dark smoked top with the red bottom, not the 94-95 lightly smoked ones like I had before, I have to get some fog lights for the kit, or driving lights, gotta get some shorter sideskirts, I have to retint my windows, as the driver window after 5 weeks or so at the bodyshop started peeling up a bit, its annoying thats all.

Then later, I have to finish updating the suspension with sport shocks, and possibly a swaybar upgrade and maybe dropping it just a bit more by using thinnner spring pads instead of the ones I have. I wish we had the aftermarket stuff they have in japan for our older benzes, Maybe one day I'll go there and ship a crate back of some cool stuff.

Perhaps if I get paid enough from my accident, I can do a supercharger to my car, that would be sweet, but I'd wanna rebuild the engine at the same time and upgrade the engine management to a custom system etc, but I probably wont go that crazy. once I'm done with a few more things, I'll look for another benz, maybe a 190e 16 valve to fix up and do some minor modifications to and have as a toy.

Great link you posted peter.

If you have any questions about what is said in Japanese on any of the cars, or would like to send an e-mail to Japan, let me know and I can translate something for you. I have a second computer with Japanese Windows on it so that my wife and I can write e-mails to friends / family in Japan.

Sweet Link!

Uh....., let's see, I'll take a #1 in Silver and a #4 in Black. Or lets just throw the wheels on #4 on #1 and I'll be happy.

Now, on to Superchargers. A Kleemann......

Well, after looking at all the cars, none of them are E500's. There is one E320 wagon that has been given the 500E front and rear fenders. The other cars are a modified 300E, a 300CE, anda 300TE with 94-95 hoods and 500E front and rear fenders.

These are the cars that have the "kit":

1995 E320 wagon:

http://homepage3.nifty.com/s124factory/gala01.html

300 CE -24 Valve:

http://homepage3.nifty.com/s124factory/boss2.html

1986 300TE (3.2 engine installed):

http://homepage3.nifty.com/s124factory/shinnosuke.html

1990 300E:

http://homepage3.nifty.com/s124factory/kei.html

They are all calling the bodykit an AMG Version III Wide Fitting Aero kit. They apparently had the kit fabricated to fit the wide fenders of a 500E / E500.

I sent them an e-mail anyway.

Let's see what they say.

I am curious what the first wagon has under the hood. It's badged an "E60" and has quad (dual dual) exhausts. I wonder if such a kit would even bolt onto a straight six...

If I understand what he wrote correctly, he is calling his car an "E60" because he has a bird's eye wood steering wheel from an E60 LTD, which is a model I didn't even know existed.

His engine appears to be stock, but he has a dual exhaust that is a "one off" AMG muffler and cat from an E36 AMG.

Ebenz, thanks for the links! Pretty cool forum, now I can use even more of my nonexistent free time

My wife drives the Mountaineer mostly, and it's still a puppy, with only about 1300 miles. So far so good, good V8 torque, nice quiet ride, but fuel economy is pretty low, maybe 13-14 mpg in mixed driving. However, we did see 19 mpg on the trip computer at a steady 70 mph.
I guess that's in the ballpark for a 4600 lb vehicle, and better than my '72 Old Delta 88 455-4V, which got about 9 mpg in town, and 12-13 highway, both figures with premium unleaded, and no AWD... progress, I guess. Also the Mountaineer is actually quicker 0-60 in 8.9 sec (source Car and Driver) vs 9.4 sec for the Olds (source: actual stopwatch reading when it was pretty new.)

The E60 designation has been legitimately used by a few tuners when enlarging the 5.0 liter engine.

I believe it started with AMG, though, when they offered a complete upgrade to the 1994 E500 and badged it as an AMG E60. An American owner of an imported AMG E60 was kind enough to scan his build sheets for me.

You can tell a real AMG E60 conversion by the "E60" and new engine serial number stamped on the modified engine block.
