H&R or Eibach for CLK320 Cab
(1) Which is better? I mean more durable, comfortable and better for attacking the corner?
H&R or Eibach? (2) also is Eibach/Bilstein a defacto std for lowering CLK? (3) do i need Bilstein or just use the original absorbers? Thanks a lot!! |

I had an Eibach/Bilstein setup on my CLK320 coupe. It rode reasonably well and handled great.
1. Eibach doesn't drop as much and isn't as stiff but preserves more of your ride quality. H&R will drop it a little more and is stiffer but at the cost of comfort. If you want all-out handling and don't mind a harsher ride, get the H&R. If you want a good compromise between performance and comfort, go with the Eibach. I went with Eibach because I didn't want to drop it too much, and because I wanted to retain some of the factory ride. 2. This is really personal preference. Some ppl prefer an H&R/Bilstein combo, others like Eibach/Koni, etc. etc. Others will opt for a full tuner setup from Brabus/Kleemann/Carlsson/etc. Depends on what you're trying to accomplish. 3. You should probably change your shocks when you lower your car. The factory shocks are not designed to handle the lower ride height, and as a result they will not damp properly. This means your suspension will be excessively bouncy. Also, they will wear out much quicker than normal, so you'll have to replace them prematurely anyway. If you swap your shocks from the start, you save yourself some money on installation as well. Bilsteins are excellent, but you should also consider Koni. Konis are a little more expensive, but adjustable. Hope this helps!
