Remus Exhaust Systems?

I happend to find some good prices on a couple different style remus exhaust systems. The only thing their not made to fit my w201. Should this even pose a problem?

hey 2.6L
why spend all that money for remus exhaust when you could go wtih an Arospeed for like 1/3 of the cost...and they look ultra cool too...

I really just want a quiet exhaust. I only want to hear it when I step on it. Alot of the Remus Style exhaust are pretty cheap on ebay wont dent my wallet to bad.

With 6" tips it doesn't seem like I would get the quietness I want out of it.

I want to remove the pre-cats or should I just gut them. I'm also going to replace the catlyic convertor with high flow cat.

With removing the pre-cats will this make noticeable noise. Noise is what I dont want if I go with a y-pipe.

I've heard the term "pre-cat" mentioned before, but it's confusing. The 2.6 W201 has a downpipe (connects to the exhaust manifold) which includes a catalytic converter with two outlets, then there's a center muffler that goes from two to one, and finally the rear muffler. What's the "pre-cat"?

will you pass smog with all these exclusions in your exhaust?
are you keeping the resonator?

and fyi,
remus "like" exhausts are going for about 50.00 on ebay...
an actual 100% remus, last time i checked, was in the upwards of about 300-450.00

Yes I can pass a smog test.
And I'm debating on whether I should keep the resonator.

The precats are setup like this on the 2.6 headers-precat-cat-muffler.

Ive got dual precats I want to replace them with a y-pipe. I'm unsure if a should use a free-flow resonator or remove the resonator

2.6,the pre cats is in the down pipe itself that connects to the
main catcon.I know a few guys who own 2.6 w/ a "Y" pipe and
a Remus exhaust and they claim that the only thing they gained
are a few few pounds reduction and unbearable noise.City and
Highway speed. I used to have a1990 2.6,and what I did is left
the resonator alone and install the Remus. You will love the
sound at above 1500 rpm.and a bassy sound at idle Good
Luck to your project.

Thanks Clauser1 I've been getting nothing but mixed messages. Now I have a good idea of what I need to do for that quiet sound I want
