124 Skidplate or Shroud
Anyone know of a good skidplate or protective shroud to put on a 124?
Seeing that many other people on this site (myself included) have windowed an oilpan before... I think before I lower my car that I'd like to add some sort of protection to the aluminum oilpan I'll probably just make one if no one else does, but was curious if anyone else had heard/seen of one |

Are you talking about a sump protector?
If so i have one on my 300ce, it is really useful even though i have only really hit once it really useful, mine would have come as an option, so look into it. just remember to make holes in a custom one so you can drop the oil with out having to take it off. Or look for one at a wrecker, or from a parts shop, they are nearly indestructable, i heard about one getting bent in an accident once it took them 3 hours of heating and bending to get it back into shape(still not pefect mind you, it wasn't my car). So goodluck anyway.

The Factory makes a stock skidplate for all W124's except the 500E.
MB PN# 124.520.31.42, about $160 bucks. I have one installed. It has saved my engine, esp. with a lowered car. Check it out here: http://www.dhc.net/~pmhack/mercedes/300te883.htm http://www.silcom.com/~neilv/sportline :-) neil 1988 360TE AMG 1993 500E |
