Carbon Fiber for the C43

Hi

I've contacted Feather Carbon and asked Mr. Queen to fabricate a C-F air-box and intake cover for my 1999 C43 AMG. However, he asked me what the new size should be. I don't know the answer to that question.

Does anyone know the measurments of the largest air-box that would fit in that car? Does anyone have the larger Renntech air-box (or plans) for the C43 that they could measure and post?

Also, since the size of the new box may be limited by the size of available air filters, does anyone know who makes lager air filters for this application? I believe that ITG would make custom size air filters for anyone who asks but, I am not sure.

Alternatively, if there is really no real performance to be gained by enlarging the air-box and filters I may as well stick with stock measurments in C-F. What do you think?

I love the C-F set ups displayed by a couple of 500E's on this forum -- they are very slick and well worth it -- from Feather Carbon that is.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Marc

Why not save your money and allow me to supercharge your car. It will make near 450hp with a Kleemann supercharger!!!

I'm doing that also. Looking about 1 to 2 years before I can get the Kleeman. Maybe sooner if you know of any acceptable "used" superchargers that would do the trick. Like I said, I know someone in Georgia and could stay a couple of nights for the installation.

But until then, why not play a little with the cosmetics and/or power of the car?

$450 will not prevent me from saving for a supercharger, or, as was suggested, a engine from a wrecked E55 AMG; do you know of any?

I'd still like to know whether putting a limited slip diff. with an ASR defeat switch (that would not effect ESP) is a useful modification to a C43. (Does the C43 come stock with single rear wheel or double rear wheel drive?).
