I am the VERY happy owner of a 1993 500E with only 28,000 miles - I haven't been able to drive it enough! The car is immaculate! It has sat in a garage while only going out on the weekends. Records are great, one owner. I have been reading all of the advice on performance upgrades and new wheels and rubber are in the budget. Thanks for all the advice.

Welcome to the "family". (don't listen to the people who call us a cult...j/k) It seems you are alredy enjoying it. Sounds like you found a VERY nice example of the breed. Always good to see another 500E owner out there. I would wish you happy motoring but as you well know that phrase is redundant with 500E ownership. Congrats are in order for your new addition. So far on the N.E., Michael's 500E holds drag strip bragging rights-I guess you already know the car is really fast! The best part is the look on the other guys face after he's been blown away by a 4 door family sedan. Good luck and ENJOY!!

I don't think it is prying at all. I picked up my beauty for $37.5K. This is low end of the wholesale bluebook - owner said his wife was afraid of the power, and three kids did not fit well in the car. Go figure!

It has intergrated cell phone, CD changer, and a very professionally installed front and rear radar detectors. Two small red lights in the snow chain and back headrest release rocker switches will flash. Also, the pannel above the drivers head (above the door) has a small speaker so I can hear the alarm go off no matter how loud the stereo or wind noise gets!

Does anybody have any idea how to up grade the cell phone to PCS while maintaining the stereo system integration?

My first "victim" was introduced to my 500E badge last night. Some home made rod came down on me at about 80 - I let him pass and procceded to lull him into a false sense of mastery - once the road cleared, a quick downshift to third and 120 resulted in a distant set of headlights.

I know this thread has been quite, just wondering about the cell phone question.

Did you get to swap to digital?

Does the hands free still work?

Hey Ernest. Right on man. Thats great low mileage beauty without even seing it. I'm guido 500E expert. You have OEM motorola analog. It has the old system. Can't switch it over to digital PCS. Due to the PSE unit which is the brain for the phone system. They only started upgrading the mid to late 90's from analog to digital. Believe me I tried to do it on my 1993 . I took my OEM phone system out of the car. If you want to keep it stock leave the phone in. Maybe you can install an after market unit. I've done many mods to my car. Alot of guys will help you in here according to the experience they had with there own 500's. Theres alot fo threads in here especially for the 500E's
