Hello everyone.

I've had my E500 for nearly a year now, although I have never driven it!

The reason for this is that it was damaged when I got it, and only now is it nearly finished.

What I need to know from you guys is whether the rear bumper is a standard W124 item, an E500 specific item, or shared with another Merc I haven't thought of!

the rear bumper cover, impact strip and trim are 500E specific items and are not shared with other models. The 92 and 93 impact strips came unpainted whereas the 94 models were painted to match the cladding.

Now here's a challenge... can anyone tell me how the E500 bumper differs from the standard item?

It's shaped differently

It's wider to accomodate the rear flares and it extends further down in a "squarer" fashion.

And finally, does anyone know where I can get one for less than a Merc dealer will charge me? Don't mind if it involves shipping!

Yes it will be for sale. I'd love to keep it for a while, but finances only allow so many cars at one time

Hi Russ,

The car is silver with full black leather interior.

I don't know what was optional on these cars, so I'm not sure what is worth listing!

Its done about 80k miles IIRC, and has full history including the original docs from Germany.

I haven't managed to get a bumper yet, so it may well get a brand new one from Mercedes... unless anyone here has any other suggestions?
