I am refering to the Eprom chip? The last owner of my 500E had done some things to it. Just checking. It looks like a MBZ part to me. Thanks!

Eric,
Some of the chip companies require you to ship the entire board in for chip-reprogramming. (Superchips offers both send-ya-a-prom and ship-us-yer-brainbox options as far as I know) Even if you have the original chip you may not have the original program.

Why do you ask? Having any problems with the 500E or just general curiousity?

Hope this helps...Lee

Thanks Lee,

Mostly, I was just curious. The previous owner had put a K&N filter and lowered the car, so I thought he might have swapped chip, too. I am contemplating buying a chip, and began to wonder if there already was one in there. It looks like a stock part, but thought I better check with the experts.

I noticed that the ASR module is also removable. Does it have a chip in there? Maybe that could be modified to allow slightly more wheel spin?

I have just put a chip in my 500E. The chip itself is located under the plastic cover, which in your picture is on the left hand board directly above the upside down number 677.

Carefully remove the plastic cover by gently lifting either end of the plastic cover. If you post what is written on top of the chip I will compare it with my OEM chip that is in my desk drawer.

Hi David,

I am looking at the photo, not at the chip...

Looks like 2 227 357 v21 on the plastic sticker.

Is this what you have?
Thanks,
Eric

Eric

My OEM chip has the following numbers

: 2 287 357 428

The numbers are different but is your car a '92 or '93? But they are similar in the same 1-3-3-3 number format.

As I remember the Precision chip that I added had no such number.

I don't think your chip has been changed.

Hope this helps
