Already posted this in the tech forum, but i need help bad so i also did it here (bare with me please)

Ok here is my problem, it's a 95 C36, (weather has been raining for a day or two). On wednesday took the car out and noticed the idle was lumpy at times, so i popped her into neutral and gassed her up, and the lumpiness went away. Today (friday) i take her out again (went to see Nicolas Cage's 0-60) and along the way the car seemed to have lost power. Came to a stop light and the lumpiness was there again. So i popped her into neutral and gassed her, only this time around the lumpiness would not go away. Arrived at the cinema, there was an empty parking lot so i gunned it in a straight line, noticeable power loss. I park the car and turn off the ignition. Turn the car back on and everything is fine.
Do the straight line flooring thing and the power is back. After the movie (great car sounds and scenes) the lumpy idle is back....i nurse her back to home and it's in the garage!

Ok what is wrong with my baby...the shops are closed by now and i'll have to wait until monday to book an appointment (please let there be room). I'm worried sick about my baby!

In my limited engine understanding it seems to be that engine may be misfiring, or a sparkplug is gone.......god i hope it's not the valve lifters!

Any insight would be appreciated!

Jman

was just informed that the reason for the lumpy idle and loss of power was due to a faulty spark-plug wire.... but i will have more info on monday when i pick up the car.

Phew, i can now sleep at night!

Did you ever get a check engine light? What codes (if any) were thrown?

Just curious...Lee

got off the phone with the service adviser and it seems that the car is experiencing lumpy idle again....according to him the car was fine yesterday. They say it could be an EA sensor (costs $2500 cdn parts), or it could be dirty gasoline. How can gasoline be dirty (no really there is no sarcasm here, i use Shell and i thought that they were great).
As for the error codes they found them a few days ago and it was the due to the dirty gas?
But what is this EA sensor?

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh if it's the EA sensor that's a lot of dough!

Paranoide Jman!

I'll let you guys know how it is coming along as i hope to have the car back by saturday

I am guessing the dirty gas your Service Manager is refering to, is fuel that is contaminated in some way.

Could be water or sediment at the last service station you filled up at. The sediment would happen if you filled up while the main tanks at the station where being refilled or if you filled up shortly there after, (caused by the mixing of old with new fuel). For this reason service stations try to do this at night with the lighter traffic levels. Usually this is a problem with older stations though, which may have the tanks erroding or rusting.

I think water is usually the case in the Winter.
