I was at the formula one race last weekend and ran across waht i thought at first glance to be a 500e but the badging said otherwise. Is there such a thing as a 600e, the car also said renntech on the other side of the trunk. If it was really a v-12 they should have entered it in the race.

The 6 liter motor from RennTech is a modified v8. About 440HP and 440lb/ft T.

Sounds like the ticket...if/when I ever need to do my motor, I plan to do the same and re-name my car a 600E. Although I'd likely opt for a 6.4/6.5 liter motor (with a blower if times are good), dunno if 640E or 650E sounds right.
Makakio, I assume you were being sarcastic? I hardly think a car with that kind of power is a girlie-car...and if the guy legitimately had dropped a $20k+ motor in there he can call the car whatever he wants ------------------ All the best, Michael 500E 300TE |

I saw one in the DuPont regestry for only like 55 or 60 G's, and a 6 liter CKL, and E class, they were sightly more expensive.

I was poking around on a German used car site looking at 500e and e500's and found a w124 with a v12 in it.
Could you have seen it's american cousin? Regards Russ |

Who else can stuff a V12 into W124/W210 bettern than Brabus?? Brabus used to put modified(6.9L V12, I believe)in a 500E, and that thing really runs!!!
Michael, if you gonna spend some decent dough on mods, why not go for V12(6.9L or maybe even 7.3L if it fits?? )that would be one hell of a ride!!! Andy Kuo ------------------

So there I am last sunday driving around in my 500E, through Queens in New York, feeling pretty tasty, when alongside drives a 124 that was so low you could not have got a stack of four quarters under it, and on the back were two badges, E60 on the left and Renntech on the right.
Soon took the bloody smile off my face. As too the conversion for the 500E motor, the 6.5 L is the way to go, as Michael suggests. Its not "too" expensive (a relative term) and I am sure would require the least alterations. David Hendy '92 500E 64k |

makakio,
I am not to put down any 500E owners here, but if that E60 is for real, and you truely know what that car is capable of, why bother to give the other driver the chance to embarrass you?? I know I wouldn't race him.... Andy Kuo ------------------

Akry,
I would have. If for no other reason than to see that thing scoot away from an already SERIOUSLY fast car. Then again my car isn't the cornerstone of my ego and self-worth. Some guys may have a harder time getting over it. Matt |

Of couse I did. We were going around 30-40 mph when he past me slowly on the inside. I got a good look at the Renntech exhaust, badge, and E60 badge. I pulled up along side, looked across to give him a grin, (he did not look back) and then I dropped the hammer so to speak. I looked in the mirror and he was totally ignoring me, then he turned off at the next junction.
So no fun. I wished I had seen how fast he could have gone. David Hendy '92 500E 64k |

Saw a E600 today in Vancouver, BC, Canada, dark blue no other badges.
Of course, from the back of the car, the tires and exhaust look totally stock. However, the funniest thing was how pathetic that driver was, couldn't even get into a really wide parking space. I really felt like coming up to him and said I have a E900 that will blow his doors off! |

Eric,
If you don't mind me asking...if you didn't talk to him and there are no badges, how did you know this was an E600? |

No, I'm pretty sure it was indeed a fake "E600". If I remember correctly, the "E600" on his trunk lid was slightly misaligned as well.
The "E600" was never availabe (if there's such a car) in the Canadian market and judging from the lack of performance upgrades, I'm 100% sure the "E600" was just a pathetic individual's attempt to pose.. |
