That E500 must be awesome. There was one for sale at a Dealer in Naples Florida, I live in Pennsylvania, and I think my wife would have actually let me drive down and trade in my E320. She tells me that if she knew how happy I was going to be with this car, she would have let me get it a long time ago. That is the thing, I am so happy with this beautiful, wonderful, exquisite, automobile that it would be hard to trade it even on the amazing E500. It sounded like a cream puff. A 1994 with 37K for about 37K. I think it was the great brilliant silver color with a black interior. It might as well be brand new. Amazing! I really do love my Azure Blue 1995 E320 SE. It is so sweet with the special color, some of the little extras of the SE, and the last year they made the W124. I am truly in love with my car. I am doing some little modifications to obtain the even more sporty ride of a true "European Sport Sedan", but I am trying to do everything right. I didn’t go for the OE "sportline" modifications. I went Eibach, Bilstein, and AMG +1 wheels. Now I am chasing after swaybars. Oh, did I tell you that I love my car and that it is simply beautiful? I think I should go. I think I should go for a ride. I just need to remember that I shouldn’t go over 100 mph down these little back country roads too often. Sooner or later I guess I will meet someone that I wasn’t expecting and then I won’t be able to drive this marvelous machine any more. I am on my way for some kind of take-out dinner. My wife doesn’t usually cook on Friday night, so I get to drive my car to find some exotic tastes. Hey, did I tell you that I love my car and that it is simply beautiful? What CD should I choose?

Wow! It was awesome again. I have so many memories of driving my other cars and cruising all over the place. This car is the best ever! I did "smoke", "toast", "blow away" some other teens in their cars, but it really was no contest from 0 to 30mph, or 0 to 60mph, or 0 to 100mph, or 0 to 120mph. As I said, this E320 s an absolutely magnificent machine. I couldn’t help but throw in some crazy surges with this wonderful automobile. That E500 must be a beast. I almost can’t imagine that it is really that much faster than my wonderful little car. Could the extra weight mess it up, so that my car is really superior if we aren’t going in a straight line? My car is quick, fast, nimble, supple and much, much, much more. I went to get some really good Indian food. The food is hot and very tasty. I listened to my wife’s Celine Dione CD. I love female vocals. From what I heard, Celine really isn’t just a POP star. She can really let it rip. Hey, she is like my E320.

I just had to tell you.

I just had to tell you all how great it is to drive my car. I better go taste that great Indian food that I purchased. No, I think I want to drive across the Rocky Mountains and to the California coast just for a wonderful ride from the East Coast. The last time I went I was driving a wonderful little VW Golf with my bicycles and my camping equipment. I stayed in 10 different National Parks. The stuff would all fit in the Benz. I have a Great Bicycle/Ski rack that fits in an almost unnoticeable receiver hitch. I would love to chase the sun some night and just drive and drive and drive.

I guess I was fealing it

I guess I went a little crazy that night, but I can honestly say that 3 years later and after almost 8 years of ownership, I still love my E320.

You feel you love them too much, or you are just too stupid to know any better.

Ksing,,,,, gotta agree. Love my TE and would get rid of the SL and the 400 before I would part with the wagon.

Into the sunset.

I have to admit that I am little embarrassed that this thread resurfaced. I was just a little emotional that night and got carried away gushing about my love for my car. Maybe we can just let this post sink to the bottom, so that I don’t have to be embarrassed any more.

After reading it again, however, I am a little hungry for some Indian food and for a long ride to the Rocky Mountains and California. One of these days I am going to have to repeat that wonderful long ride to the west.

Hey, Ken, nothing to be embarrassed about. I think most of us can relate - a good car has that effect. In February I bought a brilliant silver, light gray interior '99 E320 with 27k miles. I had been looking for an A8 or a 2.7 A6 Audi, but on my second visit to the cars I had tried, I took my wife and 11-year old daughter along. The A8 was impressive and the A6 was sporty, but "the girls" thought the rear seats - where our dtr will ride for the next year at least - were too hard. I thought they didn't know what they were talking about but a quick sit-down confirmed their opinion. My wife's car is an '04 V70 Volvo and its rear seats are much more friendly. So my wife sees this MB in the corner with "Lo Miles!" painted on the w/s. "Heck, might as well give it a try while we're up here (in Pennsylvania from Baltimore)." Short story even shorter: they loved it and I was amazed at how effortlessly I changed to someone who could appreciate, at last, a fine ride rather than one emphasizing performance. I should mention that for two years I had a Volvo T-5R that I'd done most of the regular mods to (chip, race cat, cat back exhaust, underdrive pulley, etc, etc.) and it was a stormer. Sold it to a kid who flew into BWI from Florida and he called me from I-95 in NC that evening: "Man, does this thing fly!" But for me it was time to move on. I sure am glad my move led me to this great automobile. BTW I sure am glad I found this forum. Excellent resource.
So, Ken, I say anyone expressing him/herself about something for which there is genuine appreciation should never feel embarrassment.
To steal the Mini Cooper ad slogan, "let's motor!"

heh, no shame in that.. you may also have days where you'll post about how p***ed off you are with the car.. it's like a relationship!!

But, I can understand your love, last of the straight sixes, still a decent power output today, last of the great W124 shape, nice colour. Only thing I could think of that might improve it is headlamp washers?

Sounds like you should write yourself a note that promises to buy an E500 if you lose the 320 for some reason..

happy driving

Great idea, but expensive

Now that is a great idea. If something terrible happens to my awesome little car, I can make everything OK by replacing it with an E500. Then I won’t feel so bad about the loss. Who knows, maybe I could even be tempted by a W210 E55 AMG or maybe the CDI in W211 form. It won’t be cheap to try to get over the loss, considering the that the insurance money won’t go very far. They certainly won’t put much value on my 1995 E320, even if I show them lots of pictures to be sure they understand how beautiful it really was.
