I can't believe how many 500E/E500s I saw this weeek. Monday I pulled into my tech's shop, right behind a 500E identical to mine, pearl back/grey, one of the two others he works on. Then, Tuesday afternoon, I am getting into my car on Union Street in SF, when a silver 500E pulls up to me. We exchange pleasantries about our good taste in cars, and he drives away. Later on that same evening, I spot ANOTHER silver 500E in a parking lot in Mill Valley. It is not the same car, because I notice a rather large dent in the trunk.
On Thursday night, I went to the movies with some friends, and when I went to open my car door, my key would not work. I looked more carefully at the car, and realized that it is not mine, but an E500, unbadged, pearl black, with AMG wheels like mine. My car is parked two slots down. Then today, in a bookstore parking lot, I passed yet another 500E, pearl black, unbadged, with stock wheels. And I'm not counting the green 500E that I see all the time in my town, Larkspur.

What are the chances of this happening?

I've never been in my car and seen another - but in CA last year I saw 1 a day for nearly a week! So, you guys get the good weather AND the nice cars

Wow Tom thats nuts. I was in SF staying at the grand Hyatt
downtown back in thanks giving weekend. I saw a silver one with I think AMG monoblocks its was lowered somewhat. It might of had a little spoiler on the trunk cant really rem. But I m sure its the silver one you mention.

I've never seen one either while actually driving my car, I do see them occasionally in LA and Northern San Diego but it's rare.

I see more Ferrari Marrenellos than I see 500es! Those things are REALLY rare. I live in West Hollywood and we border Beverly Hills - you see everything in this part of town. But I can easily say a 500e sighting is a rare occurance!

Just last week I was at EA in Redwood City having lunch with my boyfriend, when I spotted a pearl black E500 with gray interior and AMG wheels in the EA parking lot. I was like"interesting" because it was the same color as my E420 which I was driving that day.

The only time I see other E500's while driving mines is when I am visting someone with an E500.

Just saw a silver one on the way home tonight driving through Beverly Hills near the border of West Hollywood. Was that you Norman?

Nope, not me ... I stayed low today, just washed the cars and puttzed around the house.

BTW, I have a pearl black 500E, black interior, stock wheels, debadged and a newly installed S600 grill.

Hummm, had you seen this car the night before, I would have said that was possible me, but I am back in the Bay Area now.

The few times I do see a 500e I wonder if the person driving is a Mercedes Shop forum member. Seems like you'd have to be! How could one own one of these cars and not be an enthusiast?

Both silver 500Es I saw that day were badged.

By the way, the green one I see all the time in my town is owned by an Eastern European woman, who doesn't have a clue what she has. She said to me once, "oh, my husband gave it to me." Her husband, I would bet a month's pay, is a Russian mafioso, by his looks.

Having lived on both coasts, it is really interesting the difference in what people drive. People with old money in the East tend to drive battered station wagons, while people on the West Coast tend to, shall we say, have more fun with their money.
