Can't drive 55

I got to 155mph in my SL500. She was still accelerating and had a lot left in her. Car was solid, handling was sure. It didn't seem that fast.

Woo Hoo!! 160 about 15 minutes ago on I85.. 6K in 4th with my 32V...think I need a lower diff (have an effective 2.65 right now b/w tyre and diff ratio).

That pesky CLK55 didn't stand a chance @ 155;-)

Not sure,All I know is a my 89 Countach really stretched her legs.I think she hit about the 160mph mark, but I know she could have kept going.I got worried about running out of room, first and foremost, and then I just backed out of it.I'm not sure, but I think those cars are rated at like 186mph,but I never got to see it.That was enough for me.
I regularly max out my freightliner Century,at 112mph though.Little different at that speed in an 80,000 lb.tractor trailer.

Countach isn't all that fast, at least by today's standards. All show and no go. I'd go for the first gen, w/o all that extra body cladding.

Eh? For it's day it was probably one of the fastest cars in the world. So it had show and go considering when it was built. I'm quite certain it could scare the crap out of a lot of people even today.

From what I've read, it can scare the crap out a driver even when he's trying to park it.

In it's day. Sort of a silly beast.

My old fraternity brother's father bought a 25th anniv. edition. He bought it from the Stauffer Collection in Wisconsin. He drove it up to Madison and the pass door wouldn't open, only had about 300 miles. I took it down frat row and past the student union, felt like an old man looking for a good time. It was fast, the only other car I drove in that time period (when they were new) was an '87 930. Fast, fun and tough as nails. No need to worry about the doors not working.

Yes,mine is an anniversary edition,too.1989 fuel injected also.I picked it up for $74.000.oo.Cheap! My other two were just reg.euros like you see all the time. The cars,in truth, are junk, and always have been. All they know how to do is leak fluids(no matter what you do),and go fast, and break again. My car has 2300 miles on it,and has spent more time in Ohio,in the shop, than anywhere else.I hardly move the car,and when I do,I just baby it.The first one I had,I beat the crap out of,and it took it like a champ. The next two however, have both been very delicate.Mine will be back at my dealer in Ohio soon, for consignment this time though. They'll get $120.000 for the car, which is what I should have paid, but got it through an estate sale cheaper. They were fast in their day you're right.Just a short lived novelty though.

2001 Freightliner Century.Tractor trailer, grossed out at 79,945 lbs when I took this pic. The speed far exceeded what is advertised. I wish it didn't stop advertising at 90. I was actually doing the max for the truck which at the moment is 112 mph. Lotta fun with a truck that can run..
