138 MPH in my E320. The speed limiter is supposed to kick in at 130, but doesn't =) I think top speed is like 143 or something w/o a limter. Ride was quite good, except my tires are rated at only 130, and I could feel a little bit of wobbleness

Mine arent as impressive as some of the ones I have seen on here.

1997 Acura Integra GS-R, speedo read 125mph, car felt real uncontrollable so I slowed down. I guess the car is limited to like 135mph or something like that.

This one is kind of funny.

1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager SE 3.3 V-6, 108 mph with pedal to the floor, limiter kicked in. The van felt planted to the road at 108mph though.

141 mph in 1989 Ford Taurus SHO. Traded it in for 1995 Mercedes S-350 Turbodiesel (only 118 mph but much more of a car)

close to 160mph according to passenger in CLK55. no "LIM" light and still pulling even though it should be limited @ 155. stable as a rock! brakes @ that speed without any dive or instability...awesome car. by the way, no traffic, pedestrians, parks, people, or animals anywhere near where this happened.

Is it too late to drop a post on this subject ?

I can regularly drive on a semi-deserted 4 lane back road from the office after work to home. I like to take my 500SEL and can cruise between 200 and 220 KMS per hour uninterrupted for about 20 minutes, car seems to love it. !Problem is, the drivers window at about 200, is drawn out causing a real loud draft noise and makes the stereo a non event. Is this normal or do I need to adjust the doors as the seal looks fine to me ?

Kuan, Sorry to sound like the spoilt brat but where I live we have some real nice open roads, off peak of course. Most of the town roads are choked round the clock but they have just opened one, as yet, undiscovered by the trucks ! If I take this route after office hours, it's a dream to drive, either in the 500SEL or the 300CE. The ' little Benz ' runs at a nice 180/190 kms per hour without the wind noise but, as I say, if I crank up the 500, I get this terrible door noise from the l/h door surround, especially at the upper aff corner. It is almost as if the wind is drawing out the door into the low pressure area and causing the noise. Any ideas ? Most welcomed !!

Andy

Holy god, we have some high speeds here.

100 MPH in a 70MPH on I-95 in Florida late at night and taking into account speedo error on my 84 325e.

Could never get myself to go that fast or even approach that speed again. At my young age, I do not feel it is worth all the risk that is involved. I still don't know how I brought myself to go that fast in the first place, even with the V1 that I have.

Maybe when I get older, I will become less conservative?

Andy, check the rubber gasket that is supposed to seal the window frame to the body when the door is shut. Mine has a small crack, with a tiny piece missing. This seems to be sufficient to cause a "whistling" above 70 mph, especially during a strong crosswind.

thanks Robert, it does look a bit tatty and perhaps a new one sometime will fix the noise, also I think the dook lock needs an adjustment as the drivers door is the only one that does not close with that sensuous, gorgeous Mercedes ' clunk' !

Found under the topic of “embarrassing ways to die” 300 mph in an Impala. That was the estimated speed at the impact crater, or site. The owner put a JATO bottle in it. JATO stands for Jet Assisted Take Off, they’re used for helping C-130’s take off. I saw one in an air show and they stand the plane on its tail, quite a sight. When they found the car they thought it was a plane crash, and the brakes were burned out.

120+ on a Ltd 550 pegged at 10,xxx rpms in 6th in a 35 zone right passed the cop shop(was17). Had my fathers 82 300cd pegged at 5K+ so was probably doing 100-110. Scariest was my 95 sportster at 100+. Actually I did 95+ in my buddy's 27' progression in slight chop. Downright crazy! Never really did much more than 135 in a car but I always did it where I should not even think about doing it like NYC or something. Basically stupid kid ****!

Ahh another boater My fastest water run was 70 mph, in a 3-5 sea, in a Fountain 27 Center console with twin 250hp, mercs. In the Virgin Islands, from St John I did the trip to Tortola, in under 30 minutes. Using my Grand Banks (42 foot twin 135 Hp Lehman diesels) the same trip takes about 4.5 hours. However the Grand Banks burns 15 gallons for the trip and the fountain burned 120.

Oh and I had to get some fillings replaced, they got knocked out during the run, well maybe it wasen't that bad. With 22 degreees of deadrise it cuts up pretty well.

actually, I did 108 in my toyota 4wd PU with 31" tires, not bad really. Drove from Bradenton FL to Long Beach Island NJ in a 94 C280 in 15hrs 15 mins, door to door(roughly 1200miles). Never broke 100mph but was steady. Got nailed in VA doing 79 in a 55 and I was just coming off a ramp after filling up. Talked my way out of it. Actually drove the rest of VA under 65 then resumed speed. 'Scary' is 25mph on a solid wheeled GO-Ped. Was following a truck doing 90+. Did not know they could go that fast with a trailer. This guy and a girl on a valkyrie(sp) was being me and then passed us. Never caught up to them either.

What power does your friends Progression have? At least 400hp to do 90.
