Exclamation W123 larger brakes?

Hi all - can you advise the options here ? I am looking at a stock 230e UK 1983 with discs all round.

Am looking to the brake department for more assured braking from shall we say "motorway" speeds? I am happy to replace all the calipers and rotors for something more assured. Of course *not racing spec*, please!!

What are the options from MB, and then aftermarket ? Are W126 brakes better / bigger / compatible? Just a thought.

thanks in advance

Umm, get w126 300SDL or 560SEL or 560SEC brakes, it has to be the 6 cyl diesel to get the same brakes as the 560 SEL.

Thats what Im going to do when I get some time. They stop much better, especially with new lines, etc.

not sure?

Not sure what you mean by "it has to be the 6 cyl diesel to get the same brakes as the 560 SEL." Do you refer to *my car* needing to be the 6 cyl diesel?

I have a petrol powered 230E, do we know what brakes fit it from the W126, I assume from what you say the 560SEC and 300SDL will fit.

Will brakes from 280SE etc fit this W123 do we know?

thanks!

Joe,
I used 420SEL/560SEL brakes on my 1982 280E for years. You will need the rotors, calipers, & the brake backing plates. Direct bolt-on. They will stop that car.

Thanks MBDOC, I'll hunt around and get the parts. Did you do all 4 or just the fronts? I like the idea of all 4....

YES, That set-up from the W126 chassis will bolt on to the W123 chassis.
