Hey everyone,
I just got back from the muffler shop with my new custom exhaust. WOOOOOOOW...my car really moves now. Muffler shop installed a y-pipe to my Remus muffler. Here's a pic.....

...one final look.

That looks awesome, I am jealous - I might have to get mine done :-)

Do you not have the exhaust cutout in your rear bumper? It looks different to my car.

Matt.

Mattman,
....no!! The exhaust tips come out right under the bumper perfectly. To my surprise these exhaust tips are really LOOONG!! I had the muffler shop modify the hanging points to reduce how far they stuck out from the bumper.

Did you remove the cutout or does the US version not have a cutout?

Can you compare my pics to see my cutout?

Cheers
Matt.

Matt,
.....our bumpers are different. You have the euro style bumpers which are not available on the US version. No big deal....install should still be easy.

Matt...US bumpers don't have cutouts. I know what you're talking about though since mine has a cutout. It's a neat little touch.

I confirmed that the US and Euro fitments for the Remus muffler are different, primarily the exit pipe length.

Matt.

I am getting ready to do exhaust on my 126 and have a question regarding the O2 sensor. Right now I have 2-1 exhaust with the crossover behind the engine. True duals are in the plans, but don't have the cash right now, so I am redoing it in it's current 2-1 configuration (much cheaper)! My car did not come with any cats from the factory at all. So under the main flange (where the 2 come into 1) there is just a big Y and goes into 2 under the car. My O2 sensor is currently plugged into the front of the cat. Well my cat is going to go bye-bye and I am wondering where to relocate the O2 sensor. I don't know where it was originally, or how exactly my exhaust looked prior to the cat being installed for US conversion. I have considered 2 options. Putting an H-pipe or X-pipe where the cat currently is and put the O2 sensor in the middle of that so it gets the heat from both pipes...or putting it right under the main flange right before it splits into 2...so it also gets more heat. I'm worried that if I just put it in one of the two pipes, it might not get hot enough. Anyone have any input on this?

Curious how loud is the Remus exhaust? Does it have the deep throaty sound?

Mattman 03-28-2003 01:29 AM

I will check my car if I can get underneath without needing to jack it up.

I have a 2in1 with no cats so my O2 sensor will have been reinstalled somehow.

I am also interested in how the remus sounds. I would like to replace my current single 3in with a magnaflow rear muffer to dual 2.25 or 2.5in pipes with the Remus rear. No cats or resonators.

Cheers
Matt.

Tabasco & Mattman,
The car sounds great!! :D :D At idle the muffler has a nice deep tone which is slightly louder than OEM. When you accelerate hard, or hit higher speeds the muffler really comes alive. IMO, the sound of the muffler totally fits the look of the car...quiet when cruise'n and mean sounding when speeding.

Here's alittle secret...since the REMUS muffler for the W126 is big
bucks in the US=$700 & $800. I bought a REMUS muffler made for a W124, and had the local muffler shop modify the hanging points to get a perfect fit. Muffler cost was $455. Best investment ever......
