Mid-Ohio April 14-15

TracQuest is putting on this event. If any of you have been to a TQ event, you'll know they put on a safe, fun & top-shelf HPDE event. Lots of track time, typically great (catered) food, the whole deal. They have plenty of room, so if you're interested go to www.tracquest.com and tell Todd that I sent you!

FWIW I have no affiliation with TracQuest other than being one of their east coast instructors...don't let that throw you

Thumbs up Michael, in oversteer!

Mid-Ohio is one fun track with all variations that is expected of a good race course. To me it ranks right up there with Road America, VIR, Mosport and Road Atlanta on the East coast. None of this 90+degree motorcycle turns as some have!
As Easter is the following weekend and I have another event (VIR) on 4/28-29 I'm going to hesitantly pass on this one. Hate to as much as I love the track but there will be other chances down the road!
This is a great chance for all you guys that live in proximity of Mid-Ohio to go out and have a blast before the summer heat arrives and makes track time uncomfortable.

Toby,

Go +8-10 lbs in the front-that'll take care of that nasty push:p And in your ranking of East Coast tracks, where do the Glen and Lime Rock fit in? IMHO I think LRP is better suited to a smaller/lighter car, but HP rules at the Glen

I've heard great things about Mid-Ohio, and really look forward to running that track. If Mid-Ohio works out for me (CMP is the week before, so BIG miles in the car in April), I'll be running on 4 or 5 tracks I've never run before in '03, which will make it a banner year!

So, um, anybody wanna run the Salt Flats in September?

Unhappy OOOOOOPS, forgot

I apologize as I forgot about the Glen....the long course, not the short NASCAR route! Great place to run....love it.
Michael, you'll love Mid-Ohio ......
NO, don't have understeer, joking as I steer with my right foot!!

I've been reading and marveling the 500E posts here for some time now... but my car definately does not belong here. I am curious as to where this track meet is held. I live in central Ohio. What sort of cars are attending? Any more info?

Visit www.tracquest.com; more info can be had there.

Mid-Ohio is in Lexington. As to types of cars, all sorts of domestic & import performance machinery show up at these HPDE events-I'm sure the gate is open so stop by!

Hmmm....gotta drive to Ohio now (glad I'll be in a 500E)

Michael.. this is an off-topic question, but I am curious as to how you drive from CT to OH and how long it takes. I have a friend in Bridgeport, CT and am thinking of stopping by for a visit in the future.

Also.. I will see if my room mates will be interested in coming down with me. I have personally never seen a real 500E in person, so perhaps I can this week

Wow!

NICE track! Not a particularly crowded event, so had virtually unlimited track time for both days. Lots of P-cars, a really hot NSX, a smattering of track-prepped mustangs, a few 'vettes, and the lone Benz

Got to drive my first real race car - a Mark II sports racer weighing about 1,200 lbs and with 150HP. The chief instructor brought 2 of them, and after he checked me out for a session in my car agreed to let me go play with one of his toys. Still can't believe he agreed to it!

The car, if you can call it a car, cornered like it was on a tether-truly amazing. After 1 session I was about 9 seconds off the owners' pace (but 14 seconds faster than my best 500E lap of 1:55) but I'm sure with a bunch of practice I could whittle it to, say, 8.8 seconds )

I also wanted to add that I've FINALLY found a brake pad that can handle the abuse of a road course. I only went thru 1/2 set of front pads, and I was on track for 8 or 9 sessions (two full tanks of gas @ about 4.5-5.0 MPG). My rotors look great, as opposed to the EBC Reds that destroyed my last set in about 200ish track miles at CMP. Mid-Ohio was easily as hard on brakes, and the pads I ran worked wonderfully and had a noticeably higher "grip" than any others I've run. If anyone wants info on the pads, let me know
