Are there any members from the Jacksonville, FL, area ?

We're contemplating moving, and want to know about good independent mechanics (near Riverside & the AllTel Bldg.), paint-shops, as well the general area.

There are couple of great guys who used to be on these Mercedes boards that work at Brumos Mercedes in Jacksonville. I live in Orlando and hae gone to Brumos a few times as they are really great people. I suggest you go over to Brumos and ask for Tony he may be able to help you with any questions. Also Brumos works closely with Renntech so expect to see a few very high performance MBs in their showroom.

There is a shop in Orlando that is w/o a doubt well worth the drive.

The shop is called Irish Mike's and he is one hell of a guy !!

I believe he still runs SCCA & used to run a 16vlv. Nice shop !!

I have been to Irish Mikes and spoke with Mike, but I don't think he is doing work for drive up customers anymore. If I remember right he is focusing on his Subaru SCCA sponsored racing. Also he isn't the shop to take your stock Mercedes too to get maintenance work done. He doesn't have a whole lot of time lately.

I can give you some information...
Brumos is the ONLY authorized MB dealership in town. There are a few independents around here. Since I do most of the minor mechanical and regular maintenance in my car I don't use either one that much. Hovewer, I recommend an independent, Mike at Mike's Mechanics on Emerson Street his # (904) 398-3729. He used to work for Brumos for years, before he went on his own.
For parts, other than the internet, I use www.easternimports.com , who is local to me and Ash Tisdelle (ask for Ron), which is a VW dealership but, they work on MB's and BMW's and can get genuine MB parts cheaper than Brumos (labor is expensive though).

Now can anyone recommend some good non-gated communities/neighborhoods with low crime, community get-togethers/cohesiveness, established, excellent schools & parks, and no more than a 10-15 minute drive from downtown (AllTel Bldg) JAX ?

I forgot to mention... Gainesville (Steve Brotherton's) is about 1 hour SW from JAX (my son goes to UF there) and PG auto Florida is in St Augustine, also 1 hour S from JAX.
