400E/500E: Radiator anyone?
Folks,
I've got a line on an inexpensive radiator for our cars - it's factory and pretty reasonable (likely under $200 shipped anywhere). I'm thinking about buying an extra so I can hook someone up on this board - any takers? |

any added cooling benefits ????? ;)
|
After 9-11 years, quite a bit of gunk can collect both inside the radiator and in the exterior cooling latticework. I know the outside of mine was loaded with crap when I pulled it. So, I believe a new radator will get you back to nearly 100% of your original cooling capacity. I did it primarily as preventative maintenance, and 'cuz the deal was right:)

Michael,
Does the radiator include the revised neck insert for the added strength? Which brand is it.....Behr? |
I don't think the V8 cars had the same radiator problems as the 300s did-but regardless these radiators are the most recent (of 4) part numbers.
I'll know the brand when it arrives-I'll let you know. |
FYI, I just found a place that sells new Behr radiators - with a LIFETIME warranty - at amazingly low prices. My BIL just ordered one for his 300D, $275 shipped, vs nearly $500 at the dealer ($375 wholesale!) with only a 12mo warranty. No idea if these guys are good on post-sales service, but the price sure was fantastic: www.carradiator.com
Oh, btw - any new Behr for Mercedes should definitely have the metal reinforced hose necks. Regards, |
Michael
