Wink Newcomer

Hi to all of you,
First thing, I am French so be nice with me for the writing.
Second thing, a bit provocative, I am a bit surprised to see so many American drivers enthousiasts about a european sedan sport car. I though, even after 6 or 7 trips to your beautiful country, that all American were respectful of the speed limits and so drove only trucks. Glad to know the speed virus is universal.
I personnaly own a 1994 black with grey leather, 67k miles E 500 and I think it's a fantastic car. I have driven almost evrything (Aston, Porsche, Ferrari, Rolls etc...) and I think that the E 500 is a fantastic compromise between performance and comfort.
My interest is not in speeding, first because, over here, we are not supposed to drive over 82 mph (tolerance up to 100 mph), and second because in many region of France, the countryside is police free and so enable an intensive use of the kick down and of the roadholding capacity of the car.
nevertheless, I had few times the opportunity to test the top speed of the car and believe me it's extremely stable, and, in no case no less than the lastest merc. The only difference might be in the wind noise, but who cares.
Until now, I have been lucky with my car. it belonged to a mercedes engineer and the service book was in perfect condition. I paid it 20 000 Dollars which is in the top side of the price range over here. it has everything but the automatic Airco ; in fact I don't care, the semi-auto AC being quite sufficient over here.
I will be glad to read your comments and hope to be able to give some contribution to this forum.

Welcome

Bonjour Alexis and welcome. Always glad to have a European perspective available. We only WISH we could have an 82 mph limit with tolerance up to 100! There aren't many places in the US where you can really put your foot down, but we all have risked it at one time or another!

We also wish we could buy 500E/E500's at your price level. A pristine low mile car like yours for that price is a great bargain, relative to our market.

Regards,
Chris W.

Bonjour, Alexis

amicalement,
Bob

E500 is a wonderful car, I think I will own one some day. Your English is very good. I didn't have one bit of trouble reading it.

DR ///AMG, a moderator on the forum, is also from France, but he lives in the United States. You should try to make contact with him, his name is Mike.

Welcome to www.peachparts.com, I wish you the best.
