turbo & dip stick oil question
I'm doing a custom turbo setup which is almost finished, however I still have a problem with the oil drain. I was thinking of drilling a whole in the oilpan but than I read that BENZMAC uses the oil stick to drain the oil from the turbo. This was my first idea but the problem is that a can't take the dipstick off the block in order to drill a hole in it . I've tried everythink from pulling to trying to rotate it but it dosen't move , so any ideas on how I can get the dipstick off will be greatly apritiated. BENZMAC if you can give me a detailed describtion of the process I'll be very greatful

your car may be different but I am pretty sure that the dipstick is just held in by a rubber O-ring. It may be hard to pull it out, but it should just pull out.

Dan16v, did you drill the hole with the oil pan on the engine or did you take it off ? It seem like a PIA to get the oil pan off the engine, also if I drill the hole with the oil pan on the engine is there any chance that some metal bits will get into the engine ?

I drilled it with the engine out of the car and totally disassembled. Removing the pan with the engine in the car is a pain, but it is possible, and it's definately the safest way to do it. But, if you drill with a magnetic drill and grease, you should minimize the chips. Changing oil right after you do it would be wise too...

Oh, the thing I like about the location I picked at the rear of the pan is that the oil will hit the slant at the back of the pan and run down that slant, so it won't splash into the bottom and create lots of foam...

Dan16v, thanks for your reply ! Today I drilled the oil pan. I did it with the oil pan on the car, so the hole is located more to the front of the pan i hope that that location will not cause any trouble. Tomorow I'll change the motor oil just in case some bits got in the oil. I'll take pictures which I'll post .

The Kleemann superchargers drain in through the dip, however, on my turbo car, I gutted the oil level sensor and ran a -10 hose from the turbo to the low oil level sensor for the drain...
When the engine comes out (soon I hope to do lower compression), I will do it as in the pic above....In the oil pan is the best way.

here is my oil return. (the stuff around the tube is chemical metal just to make sure it doesn't unscrew it self. The hole drilled was tappered 1/4" NPT
