Who sells the following AMG 2-piece wheels (made by BBS for AMG)?
FRONT: (8.5Jx18H2 ET25) / part # A-129-400-11-02 REAR: (10Jx18H2 ET25) / part # A-129-400-??-?? Every staggered 500E/E500 I have seen looks so good, I would like to run the same setup on my car. Pricing/URL/phone # data would be most appreciated; thank you. Last edited by run.exe; 06-17-2003 at 07:57 PM. |

AMG SL 2 Piece
Scott, that rim is sweeeet. I've been coveting a set forever. AMG no longer makes that wheel and they are becoming very difficult to find. The best price I've ever seen on a new set is about $3,000 delivered without tires. Someonw posted a picture of a silver 500E on here that was nasty. Staggered is the way to go for sure. It will fill up that rear wheel well. I have staggered Aero II monoblocks on my 560SEC and I've ordered staggered Carlsson's (2/6 2 piece in Brilliant Silver) for my E500. I'll send pictures when I get them on. Later

AMG Aero I (???)
I have ALWAYS wanted a set of AMG Aero-1 (I repeat: Aero-ONE) Monoblocks in 18"x8.5" front + 18"x9.5" rear.
I >>LOVE<< the razor-blade sharpness/orthogonality of the Aero I - especially when compared to its successor: the AMG Aero II Monoblock. The AMG Aero II Monoblock is wearing on my psyche as being just a bit too soft/organic/diluted for my tastes. I want MASSIVE AMG AERO I wheels, the FLAT, plate-like presence of which threatens to CUT the viewer into PIECES!!! This URL indicates they exist (see the seventh wheel from the top); however, I have NEVER seen these in person: http://www.customwheel.com/wheels/amg/ {no longer even a live domain, it seems} Were AMG Aero I wheels *EVER* made in diameters larger than 17" ??? Can anyone clarify, please? Last edited by run.exe; 06-07-2003 at 05:19 PM. |

Never seen 'em
I have never seen or heard of them larger than 17". I'm with you on the look. They might be outdated but when you're putting them on a 10-20 year old car they fit right in. I've seen several sets for sale but they're usually beat up. You said you have seen them staggered? I've only seen 17x8...

Scott- I have a set of AMG Aero I multi-piece wheels with black centers. They would look awesome on a silver 500E like yours.
Unfortunately, they are 17x8.5 (front) and 17x10 (rear), and not 18-inch wheels. Also, the rears need to have 5mm shaved so it doesn't rub on big dips. Come down to SB on Sunday after our June GTG, and I'll show them to you. Imagine the below wheels with black centers . . . :-) neil 1988 360TE AMG 1993 500E Last edited by ke6dcj; 06-08-2003 at 04:27 AM. |

Aero I's
I've seen the Aero I's in as large as 18" and the Aero II's in 19". The Aero II's in 19 don't come staggered, however. The 18" Aero I's I saw were on German Ebay. Oh yeah, and the 3 piece Aero's below do come in 18's. They are being blown out right now by Potomac German Auto in CA for either $299 or $399 each. It's a beautiful wheel, but IMHO it looks smaller than it is because of the way the riveting is done, unlike the SL 2 piece wheels. What I mean is that a 19 looks like and 18. Unfortunately, there is no 19. But it's a great deal because those Aero 3 piece used to cost upwards of $600 per wheel.

The URL for German Ebay is: http://pages.ebay.de/ I don't have the URL for the wheels. They were listed a few months ago.

Scott,
I know you don't want to be seen as a copycat, but why not have I-Forge custom cut you some wheels "similar" to the AMG 2 piece that you so covet? You could get the size (19) that you want as well. They would be very trick! Unfortunately, they probably don't come in Silver C-F !

Iforged does not have a wheel similiar to the AMG wheel. Plus Scott does not want to or need to go throught he Iforged headache. For those that don't know, don't ever buy from Iforged, unless you have unlimited patience. Shanta |

Hey Shanta,
I didn't really follow the i-forge saga of your wheels, but I did catch the fact that it took forever....I thought it was that you actually got to design a wheel from scratch not just order some existing model.... HRE would probably be a better choice in that case. BTW - your wheels are beautiful !!!
