Air Intake Question ?

I know this has probably been discussed here before, but would it be a good Idea to cut the curved flang on the end of the intake off so that it is open more to the outside air? Wouldn't this open it up for more air to be pushed into the tube so that it would be more of a ram air? What about rain and debree??? As it sits it appears to be pulling air from the area of the radiator.

Yes it would seem like a good idea. I have done it, can't say ive noticed a difference, it might be there, it might not be. On paper it makes sense. I doubt you will pull up anything unwanted in there. Ive been driving with it cut for 2 years, and my engine at 120,000 miles is as good as new. Periodical inspections of the air filter and housing have revealed no "extra" unwanted junk.
