cell phone antenna question
Installing a nokia hands free system in my 1991 300E, and have read about the Hirschmann antennas for the radio and cell phone which replaces the original radio antenna in the car. Can anyone advise on where they can be bought??? I have searched websites and don't seem to come up with an answer. I have a through the glass mountable antenna, but they say not to put it over the rear window defroster wires, that the phone will not work right. Any help/advise is greatly appreciated.

I believe what you need is an antenna from a '92 or newer W124 sedan. However, before you pop for a new unit, look at yours - are there 2 outputs? Peel back your trunk liner & get a good look at where the radio antenna wire goes into the antenna motor housing. Is there another output? If so, all you'll need is an adapter (also common to VW installs) that you can likely get from your local cell phone retailer/installer. I have had Nokia car kits, but now have Motorola units in my cars-they are really a necessity in this cell phone Black Hole I live in!

cellular antenna
92 and on 124,129,201 and 140(standard) had a tri band antenna installed or available it replaced the existing antenn and and had a splitter attached to it which fed the radio/cell phone.
Once you price this you will forget the excercize. I would suggest mounting the on glass antenna on the windshield and run the coax down inside the pillar covers to your phone. Most new phones are triband, with the majority in the 1.8ghz and the antenna is not very large. There are no heating wires, and this type of install is very common on convertibles |
