more C36 power

Is there a turbo kit avaliable for the C36, other than that lethal twin turbo one with like 500hp? Do the headers or intake like 2phast had do anything, is there a chip avaliable?

A cold air intake is going to only net you a few hp, for the C36, it is already pretty much maxed on its performance. I posed the same question to both Brabus of NA and Renntech, both suggested cams and that was it.

I sold my C36 because it was not fast enough and there was no cost effective twin turbo kit available. If you indeed desire more hp, either upgrade to another car or drop the coin on the turbo setup.

We set up a 100 shot on the c35 powered 124 wagon, dynos at damn near 300hp at the rear wheels in rich tune.

Why not? After its a selective system, you only squeeze it when you want to and there are multi stage programmable kits which would allow it to step in in 25 shot increments. Personally I think it would be easier on the mill than a turbo as it is selective.

Well, N20 is an option but only if your into drag racing, daily use or road racing use is not feasible for that kind of solution

Joe P:

when are you going to post more details of your C36 powered wagon with NOS? What diff ratio are you using I have a 3.07 LSD, and will build a 2.87 LSD as well.

I guess I'm not alone anymore . . .

BTW: we're moving to Jacksonville, FL. We should meet up sometime. Perhaps at Amelia Island.

Neil,

When are you moving? Perhaps a GTG may be in order!

Neil,

What size ring gear does your LSD have>?? I have a diff out of a C43 and am trying to get a proper sized limited slip carrier for it.

Thanks.

Donnie- I don't have a diameter size. However, it is a 3.07 LSD from a Euro 190E-16valve, which has the small W124 diff case.

BTW: do you work on diffs? If so, I'd like to make a 2.87 LSD. I'm 99% sure I can find all the parts.

PS: did you ever get my email about opening a shop?

I'm thinking of partnering on one in JAX, FL.

Benzmac,

If your looking to go to a 3.46:1 or so rear diff gearing for that C43 please keep me posted. I really want to alter the gearing.

Thanks,

Jeff

I'm thinking the wagon has a 2:87 but, I'm not positive. It is the original gear. (we tried a 2:97 but, had abs and vibration problems so we wrote it off) We built the wagon for a customer (yep, he is almost as sick as we are !) keeping in mind its going to see daily driver use most of the time. The car runs eibachs front and rear (2' front 1" rear drop) 500e bars on both ends, konis out front, 17"s, of course the c36 mill and matching 722.423 tranny. Hi flow d-pipe and cat, stock resonater and Remus muff. The injection is a mix of 97 c class and the original 124 stuff. In box stick form it dynos at about 145 hp/167 ft lbs, after the mill swap and NOS it went to about 296 hp/255 ft lbs. The nos setup is a basic wet kit single stage with a flasher switch for arming and a momentary switch in the console. We also added a "NOS" light into the cluster. (Lumpys idea, cool as it gets) We really want 1/4 miles times on it but, the weather put the brakes on that.

As far as seat of the pants feel goes, its very cool, pulls hard and very predictable however, I feel more tuning on the intake side could be done to squeeze a bit more out. On the exhaust end I feel a 500e resonator would help as well. Overall impressions? Very slick sleeper with more potential as time rolls on. I am pretty much convinced this is about as far as you can go with a inline 6, next step....... build the 5.0 CIS-E wagon. I'm wanting to take a 119 SL mill (92-93) or a s500 from the same era and swap that in using a mix of 500e, 400e and 320te parts.

And as a aside, just for a sick note I think one of those 88-90 124 wagons in that putrid gold would be perfect for that final sicko touch. Complete with sheepskins.

I like turbos and superchargers but, on a car that is being used primarily as transportation and secondarily as a playtoy I feel NOS is hard to beat.

Joe- I would say to build a M119 powered W124 wagon, the most economical might be to find totalled a 500E or 400E with a good front-end clip & engine, and "graft" that to a 1994-1995 E320 wagon.

That way you get the already widened frame-rails for the M119 engine. If you wanted to keep the ASR, need to find an E320 wagon with ASR as well, heated-seats would make it even more of a "E500 wagon". I believe the 1994-1995 E320 wagon also got the beefier rear-subframe, if not install a 500E rear sub-frame.

I'd go for a 3.07 LSD or ASR diff, and don't forget to take the 400E/500E insturment cluster as well. Also, install 500E rear-struts and control arms, and modify metal wagon rear swaybar-links to fit the 500E rear control arms.

Don't forget the fenders (front & rear), plus the front bumper and 500E specific headlights.

Big question: where does the battery go, since the LH electronics displaces the battery and there is no trunk? Also, will the 26-diameter tires of the 500E confuse the wagon's ABS (it's expecting a 25-diameter wheels)? If ABS is done by counting splines in the hub, it should be ok? If by diameter, who knows?

To do it right, re-wire the engine wiring harness with Aircraft-grade Teflon-coated stranded wire.

I'd also pre-wire and install a TEC-III friendly cranktrigger and bigger fuel-injectors just in case. . .
