Problem #2 (of 3): "G" fuse is blowing with regularity

For reasons unknown, my (16A) "G" fuse blows every 4-6 hours., whether or not I actuate ANY window switches.

When it does, it renders my 2, front windows inoperable (i.e. - they neither will roll up nor down).

Even more perplexing is the fact that that I thought the windows were controlled diagonally (front driver + rear passenger / front passenger + rear driver).

(*sigh*)^2

Ideas?

Maybe when you did your interior mods, some of the wires in the door pannels got smashed or broken. That might explain the vacuum problem in your other problem.

possible, but...

...my interior mods were done weeks ago; these (electrical) problems have appeared only in the past 48 hours.

another question

I do not have quick/easy access to my car, at the moment; what does fuse "G" control, specifically, per the notes
on the fuse-box lid?

Circuit G is "Power Windows Front"
Circuit H is "Power Windows Rear"

Both are 25-amps. From this description I don't think the circuit is diaganol as you first thought.

Either you have a short inside the door or center-console switch, OR the power-window motors are overworked (usually the grease inside the motor gets old and hard- time for a new motor).

Neil,

Are you certain the "G" and "H" circuits are 25A?

The "G" fuse I have been running/blowing at the moment is 16A... and I do not wish to risk putting in a bigger (25A) fuse,
as it may overload the wiring and cause a fire!

Please confirm that the fuse-box lid cover insert indicates "G" and "H" = 25A.

Thank you,

same problem on my 300E

As soon as I turn the ignition key on, the 25 amp fuse in G pops ....... both front windows are inoperable because the fuse in G has popped ......

I don't think its the switches .......

problem resolved

I feel like such an IDIOT; I had a 16A fuse in the "G" socket,
and I kept replacing it with 16A fuses!!!

Surprisingly, it has worked for YEARS until it started popping!

Thanks, everyone!

2 down, 1 to go...
