On my trip to germany, I saw a 2.5-16 with 25km on it. I also saw 2 2.5-16 Evo IIs. They are pretty cool. Nurburgring is really awesome also, I saw some videos of it.

That is so Cool that the 190 is still going strong.

It would be really nice to see more Mercedes racing in US televised cable TV though.

The LeMans series comes to mind. We have BMW's and Audi's lapping at great times and at the front but not one single Mercedes, let alone a Factory supported car??? The DTM CLK's might put a serious hurt on the dominant Audi/BMW performance image in the US.

Mercedes USA would be very wise to tap the current "Performance Image" AMG is enjoying with the recent AMG offerings by appearing on The Speed Channel at least once or twice a year (Rolex 24Hr). The younger buyer in the US tends to gravitate towards BMW?Audi and part of the reason is you turn on the TV and hey, guess what, you see BMW and Audi active in US racing.

Mercedes is missing out on a lot of potential younger buyers (Male in particular) because they want to hang on to the traditional "Affluent, Sedate Buyer"image. But, the legacy C36, C43, C32 and lets not forget the awesome CLK55 don't really fit into that mold IMO, and neither does any x55 model. These models should be racing on US tracks, in fact a E55 would be a thrill to follow throughout the race season. The DTM cars might easily be adapted to US LeMans Rules for a quick solution to the, "Where is US Mercedes racing" question.

Anyone else long to see Mercedes circling US tracks.

Sorry to divert off the 190 racing subject.

The nurburgring 24 hours was on SPEED TV last week, for only one hour, That is how I first saw a 16v racing the new factory teams , If you email speedTV to replay it they might do it,have a few times now,
Yes I think They Could modifiy a DTM car to ALS specs , what is the Mercedes factory thinking not having a factory racecar in the Us ???, Jezz!!

Dave,

I actually saw a bit of that race last week, I actually thought that the silver 190 was a 500E for a second with the flared fenders but then a better camera shot confirmed that it was a 190 strutting it's stuff.

On the ALS issue, maybe some of the Mercedes Internet Forum's could create a petition asking Mercedes to support a Team. I think there are a couple of members here who are actually very close to racing who might have some insight.

Sounds like they need an infusion of money.
