Wow, Vc at least you got it back. Where was it recovered @. Make sure the engine is not damaged. The insurance co. Needs to know. I reall think it might be a good idea to drain the engine oil. To inspect for any debris, also. It wouldn't be a bad call to drain the fuel tank to take fuel samples.

If you local in southern cal. email me. I can try to save you some money. Give you parts @my cost. All you guys.
Wnat to step up and give Vc a helping hand.

Guido out!

The car was found somewhere in North Hollywood not too far from where they picked it up. I am gonna need a complete front bumpers and some wheels, everything else I either bought or have on order. I ordered some euro lights and bought the ignition and the window for the driver's door. I will need to some piant work cuz they put a nice little dent on my fender and some scrathes but that is not a big deal. If anyone comes across a complete front bumper drop me a line.
Thanks to everyone in advance for helping.

VC. When I was hit last yr. I needed a whole new bumper. The insurance companies. Wanted to try and locate a used one for me. Here in socal. no such luck. You make sure be stern with them, its a rare car and you cant locate these used. It has to be a new complete unit. your looking if my memory. Serves me correct. $1000.00 I belive is retail. i want you to go see my friends in bevery hills on the west side. its called bevery coachcraft. there off pico blvd and sawtelle. ask to speak to Peter
Or Dan,or even mike. Mention my name. did you call Paul @ puma to get your euro lights.

Are you going to bring the car to the dealer for work. Go to auto steigler in encino where you live. My good friend who is a tech of many yrs
. his name is Kash ask to speak to him mention my name.

you know for theft recovery its a good idea to take it to the bodyshop make sure you have no frame damage.

ItalianBenz thank you fr your help but I'm gonna take it to the guy who painted the bottom moldings, he did an awesom job. I will call around and see if I can find a used one but I assure you if I can't locate a used one the insurance company will pay for a brand new unit. Once again thanks for your help.

my $0.02

I believe that the damage done to your car represents vandalism after the fact (its theft).

Your car must have been lifted onto a flat-bed and "abducted;" I cannot imagine an amateur daring/trying to steal a 500E. Given said vehicle's value on the black market, I must conclude that the deal fell through and the party/parties responsible decided to get rid of it, quickly, instead of risking being caught. The non-sequitur damage is an effort to make the crime look amateurish.

Who can say? Your ignition was destroyed, did you say?
That seems a bit fishy. What have the police said?

Yeah my ignition was broken but I couldnt get the car started. The steering wheel was locked and I couldnt get it unlocked. The only thing I can think of is these guys drove by and shot my window with a BB gun to see if an alarm went off, when they were sure it didnt have an alarm they towed it? otherwise I cant figure it out nothing else would make sense and finally why would someone care to make it seem amateurish. The police just told me to pick it up from the tow yard. When I called the tow yard to claim it they told me that it was picked up for expired registration and mentioned nothing about it being stolen. Yeah I drive with dealer plates. They coulda only taken the wheels why the bumper, headlights and some other minor parts including an antenna, yes I said antenna... who steals antenna's? We'll at least I got it back.

Thumbs up

That's great you got him back....and not totally stripped out. Dust the car for fingerprints and start the hunt for the low-lifes. If your bumpers were original...I'd be twisted enough to get under every 500E I saw to check the VIN number stamped on it... that's just me though.

The STAR mag. has a few junkyard ads with 500Es in their inventory, if you wanted to get used bumpers and such since you'll be re-painting them anyway...Hemmings does also.

Hope it all goes back together for you smoothly man, again, congrats on getting it back !!

Congrats on getting the car back vcci!

Maybe they screwed up and thought that this was similar to a regular W124, found out that it wasn't and let it go.
I knew from your description when it was stolen that it had to be towed.

Anyway good luck on getting it back together

Thanks to the thief who stole my car I now have another headache to deal with. Now what I need is all the numbers to the computers in the box under the hood on the passenger side. I called one dealer and he says he can't give them out to me. I was wondering if anyone can get me the numbers off of thier's? I don't understand why the insurance adjuster couldnt find them for me, he found all the other parts with no problem, why not the computers? If someone can get them for me I would really appreciate the favor.
Thanks
