Best Price On Koni Adjustable Shocks/Struts?????
Anyone here know where to get the best price on Koni shocks? I am looking for a set for my 300E. I have a set of Eibach springs I will be installing with them as well. I plan on using 1bump pads in the front and 2 bump pads in the rear. Does this sound like a good combo?? Other than shock towers, is there anything else I should consider replacing as well?? Your comments are greatly appreciated!

I'll never understand why people arbitrarily say "... I'm gonna use x-bump pads front and y-bump pads rear...". The rubber pads are for fine-tuning ride height. You install the springs with the pads that came with the car from the factory. if it's fairly close, drive it for a few thousand miles to settle the springs (yes, they will drop a hair, about 1/8 to 1/4 inch). If you need to tweak the front or rear to make the car sit level, then you go up or down in pad thickness accordingly. Each car is different depending on options, accessories, stereo system, how fat or thin the driver is, and a bunch of other things. I swear it drives me nuts when I read post after post of people saying they went to 1-bump pads all around like it's some impressive mod. Shoot, my car has 4 bump front and 3 rear and I want it that way. You take ride height measurements and then choose pad thickness based on what the ruler says, not what Johnny 500E is running on his car.
 OK, ok, end rant, sorry if I offended anyone.  Oh, and what was the deal on the KONI group buy? Set of four "Reds" for how much? Or were they the yellows....?

I think I now own every size of spring pad shims for w124s, just kept moving it down until it was level and looked right. Putting on new shocks will also lift the car up.

I think I have two complete sets of 124 pads. I bought one set, and my Carat package came with another set. They're a few bucks each so a full set might be ~$30-$40...

Must be that time of the month gsxr,
Now don't get your panties in a twist...I only mentioned the bump pad size I picked because it seems that it may be important. I am not a suspension expert like you.... I just listened to the opinions of everyone else on this site, which leads me to believe that I should get the best combination using this size pad with my springs. Sorry i hurt your feelings,, I guess I’ll use the pads "with wings" i'm sure that's what you would suggest. Adam

I see the "1-bump" syndrome a lot around these parts, from lots of folks... just happened to wind me up on that particular day. Oh, and the ones with wings are the best! :p

Ha! That's cool gsxr,
I am glad you didn't get mad at my sick humor. I will take your suggestion and use the original size pads. It seems to make sense. Afterall, I am not interested in lowering the vehicle. I want to take the corners! However, I don't want the rear lower than the front or make it look like I added a lift kit or something. That would look horrable! Thanks for the help! Adam

Getting back to the original question, I think The Tire Rack's prices for Konis is pretty reasonable.
Btw. hang onto one of your stock front & rear shocks. If there is ever a warranty issue, you will have to return the defective shock first, before you get a warranty replacement. Until that time, your car's handling will suck, with 3 shocks.

ADAM BOURASSA, your car looks MEAN!
#1 pads make your car rattle/vibrate more than the thicker ones. I run a 1/2 coil 'cut' spring & #3 pad up front & I tuck tire! My ride is nice too! #1's suck for that reason(vibration)! (Sorry to derail the original subject) I have Koni yellows out back & they tend to 'stiffen up' as you drive them. Cut springs arent going to hurt anything. Mine havent settled at all after 10K miles! My buddy owns a shop & got my rear Koni's sports for $190.00 after tax. This is cost! Lucky me I guess??? '96 C36 H&R springs, Koni yellow out back set to highest click(cd changer skips over bumps!)
