Question for 500E / E500 owners
 

When either rear door is opened, do the map lights come on too, or only the center dome lamp? Thanks in advance.

Yes they come on. Open the front door, and the Front/Rear "dome" light comes on.

The map lights have separate switches, integrated into their housings. I'd think they would readily fit into other W124s.

There's a lone dome light that's switched by the doors, as mentioned above:)

Wow, when the front door is opened, all three rear lights come on too? I want to install these on my W124 and I'm curious about the wiring. For example, on a W126 when either rear door is opened, only the center rear dome light comes on. On a W140 S-Class, when the rear doors open, the dome light and map lights come on, and the map lights can also be switched on with the little switches.
